Party time- when the inmates are out of the cell Lock down- when the inmates when go back to your cell Shakedown- surprise search of the inmates Dropout- gang member who chooses to leave the gang voluntarily o Give the prison just as much problems as the other inmates because they are targets. Removal- when the gang members attack a dropout. The classic way is a cut on the face. 6 different ways identify gangs: 1. Tattoos 2. Symbols (gang signs, hand gestures) 3. Art work (tells a story, how the gang formed, rivals, leaders, messages, where the gang is from) 4. How they congregate (they all have a role, activities, certain groups walk in a group of certain numbers) 5. Micro writing- (certain gangs communicate in a little piece of paper) 6. Interview when they enter the prison a. Just ask the inmates they want to keep peace, they want to be separated. Colors of clothing are used for identification- for security level, gang. Gang classification unit- similar to a swat team, units that deal with gangs. o Segregation o Random searches o Talk about leaders...
