Oscilloscope and Function Generator in Proteus...
LAB 1 1. Objective: To measure the frequency and amplitude of a signal generator through function generator on an oscilloscope. 2. Equipment: Following equipment was utilized for the experiment: (a) Oscilloscope (b) Function Generator (c) Cable with BNC connectors on both ends 3. Experimental Setup: Experimental Setup for the experiment is shown as:
Figure 1 4. Measurements: Voltage Measurement Sr No 1 2 3
Voltage (Function Generator) 2 Vpp 8 Vpp 10 Vpp 1
Voltage ( Oscilloscope) 2 Vpp 8 Vpp 10 Vpp
Frequency Measurement Sr No 1 2 3
Frequency (f) (Function Generator) 5 kHz 10 kHz 100 kHz
Time Period (T) (Oscilloscope) 0.0002 s 0.0001 s 0.000001
f = 1/T 5 kHz 10 kHz 100 kHz
5. Review Questions: 1. Was there any difference between input and output ? If yes, then why? There was no difference between input and output as the practical was performed on Proteus Software where there is no chance for any hardware issue. 2. Briefly explain that how did you measure time and amplitude on an oscilloscope? First of all, we selected an appropriate time scale for which a full wavelength can be viewed properly. Then calculate the horizontal boxes for a complete wave and multiply it with the time scale to get the time period.

In order to measure the amplitude, calculate the vertical boxes between upper and lower peaks and multiply them with the voltage scale.
