OBJECTIVE: The basic objective of this lab:

1. To know Oscilloscope and function generator. 2. To use Oscilloscope to generate a signal. 3. To know about the use of different knob in Oscilloscope.

OSCILOSCOPE: An oscilloscope is a laboratory instrument commonly used to display and analyze the waveform of electronic signals. In effect, the device draws a graph of the instantaneous signal voltage as a function of time. A typical oscilloscope can display alternating current (AC) or pulsating direct current (DC) waveforms having a frequency as low as approximately 1 hertz (Hz) or as high as several megahertz (MHz). High-end oscilloscopes can display signals having frequencies up to several hundred gigahertz (GHz). The display is broken up into so-called horizontal divisions (horizontal div) and vertical divisions (vertical div). Time is displayed from left to right on the horizontal scale. Instantaneous voltage appears on the vertical scale, with positive values going upward and negative values going downward. FUNCTION: 1. Shows and calculate the frequency and amplitude of an oscillating signal. 2. Shows the voltage and time of a particular signal. This function is the main used of all the functions described here. 3. Helps to troubleshoot any malfunction components of a project by looking at the expected output after a particular component. 4. Shows the content of the AC voltage or DC voltage in a signal.

FUNCTION GENERATOR: A function generator is a signal source that has the capability of producing different types of waveforms as its output signal. The most common output waveforms are sine-waves, triangular waves, square waves, and sawtooth waves. The frequencies of such waveforms may be adjusted from a fraction of a hertz to several hundred kHz. Function generator controls  

Frequency: As would be expected, this control alters the basic frequency at which the waveform repeats. It is independent of the waveform type. Waveform type: This enables the different basic waveform types to be selected: 1. Sine wave 2. Square wave 3. Triangular wave

CONCLUSION:

From this lab I understood the use of Oscilloscope and function generator. To analysis different electric we must know the use of these two devices. These devices will be helpful to check the voltage drop in the circuit and to give variable frequency to a circuit....
