Hunter DeLaMare Bro. Arthur Deyo FDAMF 101 July 11, 2016 Lesson 12 Essay Activity My life has been affected in many ways by being a citizen of the United States of America. Most of the time, those changes are for the good, but at times they are for the worse. What I find most beneficial in our country is our ability to innovate and adapt to new times, especially with new technology. While some might argue and debate this, I believe that America is unmatched when it comes to the advanced technologies that we have and the way that we use them. Everything from movies and the entertainment business to national safety and developing weapons falls under this category of how we use technology for the better. Not everything we do though is beneficial for the country. American politics has become polluted with a sense of doing what the politician thinks is best and not what the people thinks is best. In today’s world, all we have to do is turn on the TV or get on the internet and there will be a new story of somebody in politics who abused their power to get gain. American politics have always been a part of the nation’s culture of change and reform, but it always seems to change for the worse and never for the better or for the people. We live in a society where the poor get poorer and the rich get richer all because of political interests and investments. Something happened on the news recently that caught my attention that I sincerely felt would be a key step to turning this country around. The governor of Texas called for a Constitutional Convention to be held in order to bring American politicians back into correspondence with Constitutional principles. I feel like this would mark the beginning of the change that America

has been looking for. With a government brought back into correspondence with the Constitution, I feel that America could once again truly start to become a great nation again....
