Description

Jordan Witcher ENG-472 09/06/2020 Letter to Parents Dear Parents, First off, I would like to welcome you to another school year that is bound to be filled with various new things and fun things that are bound to make the lessons more to teaching. As a language arts teacher there are many things that are included with teaching the students which one of the most of them being the reading and writing as the content presented. As with that we must remember that one of the main topics presented within the reading subject is its curriculum to the students. This English class with use various techniques to make sure that various techniques and models in order to former the reading and writing within the classroom. It is important to understand various philosophies and reading strategies that will help the students being taught to further that development so once they graduate these tasks can be used not only in college but in everyday life as well. It should first be noted that reading is not only a huge standard in the English class but for every other class as well. It should be noted that there are various forms of reading that will be taught throughout the year. But the one that will be used more often, and each lesson will be based around, is a cognitive way of reading. This is where the reading is discussed and then broken down by various things including words, sentences, and paragraphs. The reading curriculum will be based mainly after this to allow the students to take time when learning a specific text. There will be various time implemented to the reading assignments giving the students more time to, not only go over what has been read, but also discuss it with their peers allowing for them to see where their classmates stand as well.

As we continue along within the school year, there will be various assignment and lessons that the students will cover. For example, within most English textbooks the students will be exposed to an author we mostly know as William Shakespeare. Two texts that will be introduced during this class will “Romeo and Juliette” followed by “Macbeth”. While each of these are classified as a tragedy, each of them falls under another type of tragedy. This is very common with various older texts that will be addressed through out the year. It should be noted that text annotation will be used frequently during all parts of the class to keep the students informed of where they are at and leave off at. As we continue students will be given text-based questions to test their knowledge of what they have read during each reading given to them. If all work is done in regular time, we as a class have the potential of viewing movies that go along with the assignments given. It should be noted that this year will be a successful one. As the teacher I hope that the students will learn to the best of their ability. I have faith in them and will do my best to encourage faith in them as the school year progresses. If there are any questions that you have please feel free to contact me or visit me after school. I look forward to further conversation with you. Have a nice day and a great school year....
