Description

Math Lesson Plan Pythagorean Theorem Overview: We will be reviewing the definition of the Pythagorean Theorem and how we can use it to the solve equations. We will review how we can use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for the missing sides of right triangles. Objectives: Students will be able to:  Define the Pythagorean Theorem  Solve equations using the Pythagorean Theorem Time: 30-40 minutes Materials: Teacher – White board/Smartboard, markers (for either board that one chooses to work on), PowerPoint pulled up, and example problems. Students – Worksheet, pencil, dry erase markers, eraser, white board to follow along with examples, and calculators if available. Activity: 1. First, we would review what the Pythagorean Theorem is and what it means and how it only works with right triangles. 2. Then, we will go over the equation that is used: a2+b2=c2. 3. I will then show them some examples of perfect triangles and we will work on them together while I demonstrate them on the white board/Smartboard. 4. After a few examples and giving them time to ask questions they will be divided into groups and will be able to work together on a worksheet with similar problems and be able to help each other....
