1.0 Introduction Display total tiles cost of one house RM

In this project, we are Stark Construction & Supply company which specialised in constructing and supply. One of clients want us to create a program that allowed them to calculate the area of room, the number off tiles needed, the cost of one room and the total cost of the whole house. We have created a program to allow clients to request for our assistance. In this program, we Stark Construction & Supply will provide our clients with the effective way to solve their problems by design a program that can solve many problems in one program using our expertise such as to calculate the total area to cover, how many tiles are needed and also how charged based on the information given by our clients which such as the of tiles and different size of tiles. Our program also can calculate for floor o, it is proven that our program can solve many problems in one program. It is the best and efficient way to solve our clients problems. A tile is a manufactured piece of hard-wearing material such as ceramic, stone, metal, or even glass, generally used for covering roofs, floors, walls, showers, or other objects such as tabletops. Alternatively, tile can sometimes refer to similar units made from lightweight materials such as perlite, wood, and mineral wool, typically used for wall and ceiling applications. In another sense, a tile is a construction tile or similar object, such as rectangular counters used in playing games (see tile-based game). The word is derived from the French word tuile, which is, in turn, from the Latin word tegula, meaning a roof tile composed of fired clay. Tiles are often used to form wall and floor coverings, and can range from simple square tiles to complex mosaics. Tiles are most often made of ceramic, typically glazed for internal uses and unglazed for roofing, but other materials are also commonly used, such as glass, cork, concrete and other composite materials, and stone. Tiling stone is typically marble, onyx, granite or slate. Thinner tiles can be used on walls than on floors, which require more durable surfaces that will resist impacts.

2.0 Problem Statement One of our clients came to us and ask us create and design a program using MATLAB programming to calculate the total area to cover, how many tiles are needed and also how much the cost will be charged . So, we Stark Construction & Supply will provide our clients with the effective way to solve their problems by design a program that can solve many problems in one program using our expertise. Then, with the information that our clients give such as the type of tiles, the price of tiles and different size of tiles. Given Price: Tiles A: RM 17.15 Tiles B: RM 172.05 Tiles C: RM 8.05 Picture

Example of manual calculation (Floor Tiling)

Problem: To calculate the number of tiles needed and the final price for each desired area

1. Master Bedroom and Bedroom No.2 Important data 1. 2. 3. 4.

Propose area : 4m (length) x 5m (width) = 20 m2 (square meter) Chosen tiles : Tiles B Area of tiles : 0.36 m2 Price of tiles : RM 172.05

Formula for no. of tiles needed:  

Desired area ÷ tile size 20m2 ÷ 0.360 m2 = 55.555 ~ 56 ( No. of tiles needed)

Formula for cost of tiles in desired area:  

No. of tiles needed x Price of single tiles 56 x RM 172.05 = RM 9634.80 for Master Bedroom and Bedroom No.2

2. Toilet (w/c) Important data 1. 2. 3. 4.

Propose area : 2m (length) x 5m (width) = 10 m2 (square meter) Chosen tiles : Tiles A Area of tiles : 0.04 m2 Price of tiles : RM 17.15

Formula for no. of tiles needed:  

Desired area ÷ tile size 10 m2 ÷ 0.040 m2 = 250 ( No. of tiles needed)

Formula for cost of tiles in desired area:  

No. of tiles needed x Price of single tiles 250 x RM 17.15 = RM 4287.50 for Toilet (w/c)

3. Kitchen / Dining Area and Living Room Important data 1. 2. 3. 4.

Propose area: 5m (length) x 6m (width) = 30 m2 (square meter) Chosen tiles: Tiles C Area of tiles: 0.18 m2 Price of tiles: RM 8.05

Formula for no. of tiles needed:  

Desired area ÷ tile size 30 m2 ÷ 0.180 m2 = 166.666 ~ 167 (No. of tiles needed)

Formula for cost of tiles in desired area:  

No. of tiles needed x Price of single tile 167 x RM 8.05 = RM 1344.35 for Kitchen and Living room

Important data 1. 2. 3. 4.

Propose area: 4m (length) x 3m (width) = 12 m2 (square meter) Chosen tiles: Tiles C Area of tiles: 0.18 m2 Price of tiles: RM 8.05

Formula for no. of tiles needed:  

Desired area ÷ tile size 12 m2 ÷ 0.180 m2 = 66.666 ~ 67 (No. of tiles needed)

Formula for cost of tiles in desired area:  

No. of tiles needed x Price of single tile 67 x RM 8.05 = RM 539.35 for One Wall.
