Ethos: I have been practicing meditation and healthy spiritual living deeply for the past 3 years of my life, and gotten expertise advice from others who have been practicing much longer than me. Logos: Emma M. Seppälä Ph.D. conducted groundbreaking research on mind-body practices for combat veterans and has also conducted research on meditation and compassion. She has hundreds of studies released that I will be talking about but they are mostly about how meditation can help boost your health, happiness, self-control and social life. Pathos: The mental health of so many teens, especially in college, has been getting worse and worse as the years go on. Meditation practice has been proven to help the stress involved in our life and really calm our minds. Attention Getter: The mental health of so many teens have been getting worse and worse as the years go on. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. Meditation-which comes in many variations-has long been acknowledged as a tool to master the mind and cope with stress. Studies show it can also reduce depression and anxiety, and help people manage chronic pain.

Reason to listen: It is especially important to focus on the topic of mental health and what we can do to help reduce those statistics. Meditation is a great way to form a mind-body connection and reduce stress and anxiety levels. Thesis statement: Studies have shown that regular mediation sessions reduce stress and cause an overwhelming sense of peace and happiness. If we incorporate meditation into our daily lives, we can help to reduce those statistics of people struggling with mental health issues.
