The temporary access option enables you to start your coursework and avoid missing deadlines .) Description: This course is designed for students whose majors do not require courses in Statistics, College Algebra or Pre-Calculus. This course covers a selection of topics form within the following general areas: financial mathematics, linear and exponential growth, numbers and number systems, history of mathematics, elementary number theory, voting techniques, and graph theory. It is strongly suggested that students who plan to take MGF 1107 complete MGF 1106 prior to taking this course. This course does count toward the Gordon Rule mathematics requirement for the A.A. degree. Prerequisites: MAT 1033 with a grade of “C” or better, or a suitable placement score. Evaluation will be based on the following percentages: Homework: 10% (homework assignments in MyMathLab) Tests: 20% (5 online MyMathLab tests) Midterm: 35% (on campus in MyMathLab) Final Exam: 35% (on campus in MyMathLab) The following system will be used for the final letter grade: A: 90%-100% B+: 87%-89% B: 80%-86% C+: 77%-79% C: 70%-76% D: 60%-69% F: 0%- 59% FF: Failure due to academic integrity issues

Student Responsibilities / Course Requirements 1. MyMathLab Software Homework is assigned on each section in MyMathLab. You are expected to keep current with all assignments as this will help you to make the most of this class. The homework assignments that count as 10% of the grade are listed in MyMathLab, labeled as Homework, by chapter. These homework lessons must be completed by the date listed. Due dates are not negotiable. You may work ahead. You may re-do homework assignments for a better grade as long as the due date is met. Each homework assignment has a corresponding Media Assignment as a prerequisite. These media assignments include the video lessons, animations, and Power Point slides. These media assignments and the Tracked Tutorial Exercises serve as the teaching component for the course. 2.

Testing There are no re-tests or make-up tests in this course. There are 5 online tests in MyMathLab throughout the semester comprising 20% of your grade. There are 2 on campus tests in MyMathLab--the midterm and final-- each counting 35% of your grade. The online tests require a Lockdown Browser, which you will install during the initial Browser Check in the MML Home page. Check the Lockdown Browser installation before accessing the first test by using the Sample Test for Checking the Lockdown Browser. The lockdown browser disables accessing other sites during testing. The Lockdown Browser does not work on CF campuses; do not plan to take your unproctored tests on campus. ***The tests are to be treated as tests and are to be your work without assistance from other people or other sources. If I find your online tests grades to be inconsistent with your proctored test grades I reserve the right to have you re-take the four online tests in a proctored format. Failure to abide by these conditions will result in academic disciplinary procedures. A midterm and comprehensive final, each 35%, will be on-campus, proctored tests administered through the Testing Center, 2 nd floor of the Bryant Union/ Student Center (see #3 below), or at the Citrus or the Levy campuses. All tests are due by the specified deadline, whether online or on- campus. Due dates are not negotiable. You may take the midterm and final anytime by the specified due date, according to the schedule of the testing facility. The on-campus midterm and final will be online via MyMathLab (in one of the testing facilities) but will be proctored and password protected.

For those students who wish to take the on campus tests at the Citrus Campus, contact Julie Russell, x-6163, ([email protected]) in the Citrus Testing Center to make an appointment. If you need other accommodations at Citrus, contact Pat Booth, x-6146, ([email protected]) in the Library. At the Levy Center contact Lori Prevatt ([email protected]), x-2113, or Holly McGlashan ([email protected]) at x-2118 for an appointment. You will need to know the course for the test (MAT 1033). For anyone who will be out of the college service area you may arrange for proctored testing at

another college facility; make those arrangements with me (email me the name, phone, email address of the proctor) well in advance of the testing schedule. Calculators: You may use any calculator (other than a phone) below the TI-89 on all tests and homework. NO PHONES or wi- fi enabled device may be used at any time. 3. Ocala Campus Testing Center
