ACTIVITY 12-1: BOOT ING INTO SAFE MODE Starts on Page 521. Use ServerDC1 for this activity. What tool would you use to check that all users are signed out? Press the Windows logo key + R simultaneously to open the Run box. Type cmd and press Enter. When the Command Prompt window opens, type query user and press Enter. It will list all users that are currently logged on your computer. What option (in the boot menu) would you use to boot to fix a monitor driver problem? Which one would you use to run chkdsk? You'll see the Advanced Boot Options screen, which is where you would launch Safe Mode from. Select “Repair Your Computer” and run startup repair. Open the command prompt and type cmd in the search box. How is the Windows Server 2016 desktop display different in Safe Mode from what you boot normally? What else is different in Save Mode? Most device drivers are not loaded. A device driver is the software that Windows uses to interact with a piece of hardware, such as a printer or scanner. Instead of the normal graphics device driver, Safe Mode uses standard VGA graphics mode. This mode is supported by all Windows-compatible video cards.

Are there any errors or warnings reported (under the system logs)? If so, find out more about one or two of the errors or warnings by clicking them and viewing the details. Does this mean that the events you viewed before creating the filter are deleted, or simply not displayed?

Using ipconfig, I can see my IP configurations. The purpose of the ping command is to verify connectivity at an IP level to a TCP/IP device.

ACTIVITY 12-6: DISABLE AND ENABLE A NETWORK CONNECTION AND THEN DIAGNOSE A CON NECTIVITY P ROBL EM Starts on Page 539. Use ServerDC1 for this activity. Why would you disable a network adapter? To diagnose it must be disabled. Briefly describe what happens (when you use the Diagnose tool). It troubleshoots for any problem related to the ethernet connection.

ACTIVITY 12-7: CONFIGURING TO ENABLE RE MOTE ACCESS THROUGH REMOTE DESKTOP Starts on Page 543. Use ServerDC1 for this activity. Take a screen shot of the Properties window from Step 12/13.
