Yes, ANCSA was a fair settlement for Alaska Natives. The government wanted to work with the Alaskan Natives to come up with an agreement. This is much different from what occurred with the Cherokees. The Natives received land under ANCSA for their use and in return they would drop their claims to any other land in Alaska for a cash settlement. The Alaskan Natives were given 44 million acres of land, but this was only one-tenth of the state of Alaska. The federal government approved $962.5 million dollars, $462.5 million form the government . The would receive the $500 million to be paid over time from state revenue. from oil proceeds ....
