Cameron: Julia Margaret Cameron was one of the famous portrait photographers in history in the late 1800s. Cameron was born in Kolkata, India on June 11th,1815 and died in Kalutara, Sri Lanka on January 26th, 1879. Cameron lived with husband Charles Hay Cameron and many children. Cameron was one of the earliest Victorian’s photographers in the 19th century history. Cameron’s got her first camera when she was 48 years old, but the camera that she had was unnamed during those time. Cameron wasn’t just a proper Victorian housewife; she was turning into an artistic photographer. Cameron’s images were so and extraordinary that it was hard to find out more about her techniques and her different type of way of doing portraits of people (famous people) in the late 1800s. Cameron has a professional portrait image that has the grayish/brown photos of famous people and how the images compelled the mixture of her attempted photos in history. During her days, she was using a unique skill as a photographer to stand out with her image’s shadows and lighting from an unknown name camera during the old days of backdrops equipment in the background. When Cameron was alive, she hasn’t had no interest of doing commercial portraits like famous celebrities or companies (just to put it out there) just to get practice on. Cameron has her family and friends to help her with her photography. On the article says, “Even so, Cameron had no interest in establishing a commercial portrait practice. Instead - with the help of friends, family, and household staff - she used her photography as a means of illustrating a variety of historical, artistic and literary themes (see, for instance, her illustrations for Tennyson's Idylls of the King). A house maid might be transformed into the Madonna, her husband into Merlin, a neighbor’s young child into Cupid or an angel from the fa-

Early Renaissance art was a source for much of her work (see, for instance, her Annunciation in the style of Perugino) most of which was wholly original for any photographer.” That’s I noticed that Cameron didn’t do this alone. Although, there is some images that she did when she was alive. Just to name a few from the article.

As I see it, I noticed how she represents her images in a respective way and how she corporates famous people/important people in her images to make the perfect image, even though photography was her first time of starting her journey to become a famous photographer. I love how she shows me the composition, the depth of field, and the contrast of the images. I love the technique that Cameron did that inspires me to do my last photoshoot of this semester and I’m surprised how my images turn out from her techniques and I love how the background blur and my subjects were in the clear area and the sunlight made it shine and blended through like the ocean glisten through the daylight sun.
