Description

Milestone One: Job Offer Comparison Hollis Johnson Congratulations on graduating with your bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University! A new array of opportunities is open to you, but which will you choose, and how will it impact your life? Select your discipline area of interest and examine the set of jobs you have applied to and received offer letters for to determine which one best fits your needs and wants.

Employment Opportunity Analysis In this section of your milestone, you will focus on the opportunities presented in the discipline area of interest to you. Compare the opportunity as instructed below:

Outline the characteristics that are most important to you in a job search, and explain why. There are many things to consider when one is just selecting a job offer because the decision will affect a person greatly as you see some people start and job and keep their loyalty to one company till retirement. Some people remain confused their whole life about their workplace. So, for me the most technical way to select a job offer will comprise of three points 

The job should be for me, try not to make any temporary decisions for my life.

The responsibilities should not be more than what I am getting paid for.

The health care is essential the company should have a good health care package.

The reason why these things are important to me is that life is very unpredictable while making any decisions you should consider every possibility and for me to have a happy life and satisfaction these points cover it all. One has to believe that real happiness is not money it comes from inside. If we look into the points individually these points are very general on there on, we see that job should be interesting for the person otherwise there is no point. The pay should be equal to the work being done. Living in America health care is the most important here. I make my case.

Location: Compare the jobs in terms of distance and commute and consider the impact each would have on your day-to-day life. Consider if you would be willing to commute or relocate for any of these positions. Be sure to explain the considerations and show your calculations. The first two jobs are in Massachusetts, I will have to move to a new state and start my separate life there and it would be quite interesting. As I live in Atlanta, Georgia the distance between the two states is more then 1000 miles and the commute is not so difficult. The main problem comes with the pay the pay is very low for me to go and start a new life there, in my opinion I will not relocate for a job of Assistant teacher, But I might consider it for the Curator Job as the job is interesting and a lot of potential there, the third job is a remote job so there is no issue of relocating or anything. The effect of these job on my day-to-day life is a lot as I am the only son of my mother and she lives with me I really want to take care of her and show that I am with her. I will always prefer to work from home.

Salary Calculate what a reasonable salary would be for each job opportunity using the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) website and explain how you determined each figure. The annual mean salary for tutor related occupation is $30,970 and the salary we are being offered is $25000 as it is base salary and the comparison will be a little mis guided and for this particular job the employer offers us an increase of some percentage depending on the increase in the cost of living. Adding up all the calculation and takin in account the worst-case scenario this job has around $25000. I say this a good deal for a person who is interested in teaching field but to relocate and start from zero in a new state will be difficult in the start but things will get better if my calculations are all good. Comparing this job with the assistant curator job we have starting annual salary of $32,000. The mean salary of the assistant curator in Boston, Massachusetts is $46,513. Looking at the given benefits and everything and considering the worst-case scenario our salary comes up to around $32000 per annum. Moving for this job to a new state is a little easy as compared to the other job. The Boston Public Transport is a very easy way to move around the city, and the job comes with a subsidized bus ride. This is not the only reason but the job itself comes with great benefits and a very great salary to start which will change things in a year. If you used it with proper management and a little mathematics. The last job as a remote English tutor pays around $42500+ annually which is a lot at the start and the health insurance and everything is also very great and according to BLS the mean salary is $41,010 in the state of Georgia where I live as always living and working from home is always a very dreamy thing with this package decision also becomes very easy. At the end after all the comparison is very easy with after all the details in point. All these estimate are before taxes no tax deductions are made yet.

Calculate the starting income each position will provide you after taxes using an estimated flat tax rate of 30%, as well as the annual income you would make at the 5-year mark after taxes using a flat tax rate of 32%.

Income before Taxes 1st year salary after taxes. After the 5-year mark salary after taxes.

Were you to have information about the salaries of various levels of employees in each company, what would you use (mean, median, or mode) to calculate your expected salary? Why? The information I have is the salary of different people according to their post. The question to guess my own expected salary based on this information. I am repeating the question to make a point that in statistics nothing is impossible and we can get our answer to everything for this I will be using no measures which are given because mean is very prone to discrepancy with outliers which will be salaries of C.E.O and high-level officials, median is the middle most value in the distribution and the mode is the most frequent value. So, sadly we can not estimate our expected salary through this information and measures.

We started with the base salary the retirement plan was only available for the assistant teacher job otherwise there was no policy for the English tutor and the assistant curator had a option for third party 401k but I went with the given option of 5 % of pretax income.

Compare the insurance plans offered by each employer and how much you would be expected to cover. Be sure to consider your personal situation such as children who need coverage and how much the family plans will save/cost you. The dental insurance is 100% free for me and my family If I pick this job this will be very easy on overall budget as we all know the dentist are very expensive and very essential. I can’t be sure of the number but this will save us a lot in terms of me and my dependents getting free dentist checkups. In terms of vision this job will give $130 per annum for me and my family for our healthy vision. This Medical Health will cost us around $1500 and it covers family and friends. The most important benefit for this job is free $1200 for continued higher education and personal development. As the curator it has a high base salary as compared to the assistant teacher job. This job has a healthcare which will cost us $35 per week with all the dependents included and it has a $40 co payments for each optician visit and extras for the frames and everything. The monthly cost for dependents will cost us around $2.46 per month and the retirement is 3rd party 401k with a third party. The last job doesn’t offer any dental insurance, but the health insurance for a premium package will cost us around $300 bi-weekly. A person can get a scholarship for $500 for his professional development. If we compare the benefits the Teacher assistant job is great like it has all the great deal at low prices for the employee but the base salary is a little low. If we see the overall comparison the best job to choose out of three will be English tutor comparing the plans and base salary. One thing I will like to add is that most comprehensive and detailed written plans were of the teacher assistant job....
