Description

Hi Andrea,

I'm excited about the bill's passing and I guess you too because we are California NPs living and practicing in the Golden State that knew the barriers we face. I think both present and future NPs celebrate this news, advocates and voiceover inequalities in health care that they believe FPA grant will allow them to work to solve. This a way to close the primary care provider gap in the state and allow millions of Californians access to the high quality health care they so desperately need. (Chaunie Brusie, (2020))

With the passing of the bill, NPs in California will be able to do the following without the need for a doctor to supervise or standardized procedures, they can conduct advanced assessments, order diagnostic procedures, establish diagnosis, prescribe and institute therapies, delegate tasks to medical assistants, perform disability examinations, and other acts that require training and educational and recognized as appropriate.

I also concern about having a number of residency hours (unspecified) to independent practice. In my opinion, it would be very good for NPs to have at least one year or 2,800 hours of supervised practice to help them gain enough experience to meet safe integrated healthcare services, high quality. But I know it depend on the ability to practice, capacity and knowledge of each NP.
