Summary Based on the Reading made by Nellie Wong...
3/12 Nellie Wong A common story that can be within all these readings is the feeling of insucurity about one's own life due to feeling different from others. "When I was growing up" by Nellie Wong proves this by showing what she witnessed as a kid and how it made her feel, "I discovered the rich white girls, a few yellow girls, their imported cotton dresses, their cashmere sweaters, their curly hair and I thought that I too should have what these lucky girls had." Wong felt different compared to what all these other girls had. "On not Bein" by Mary Hope Lee is seen as another example of a victim of feeling different. "he other girls reactin to her like she was the cause of some kinda gawdawful allergy they all had contact could be fatal." Lee's mother was discriminated based on her skin color and had to deal with offense comments about who she was. All these stories are connected in a way that feeling different back then can upsets a person's life, choices and who they represent in life....
