The comparison of the New England and Chesapeake colonies The colonies of the new world represented different characteristics and some similar traits. From farming climates to religious beliefs, the characteristics differed a lot. A great example of these are the New England colonies and the Chesapeake colonies. The New England colonies, and the Chesapeake colonies had a lot of distinction like culture and predominantly the goals and intention of the founding fathers, despite the differences a common reason for the formation of the colonies was religious freedom. New England did not have a lot of religious freedom. Puritans in England decided to come to the new world and make a colony to get freedom from religious confinement. The people in England left because they did not agree with most of the aspects of the Church of England. The New England colony allowed them to worship peoples own beliefs. Despite leaving England the colonists remained true to the king of England. On the other hand, religious freedom was not the main goal for the Chesapeake colonies. Religious beliefs were less common in the Chesapeake region. There were some people in Virginia, who were still religious who were Anglican. Catholics came to Maryland after the catholic church and the church of England separated. Although there were some similarities the difference between these colonies was

created by the settlers of the colonies. The New England colonies came in with the intention of religious freedom and to start a family. Many movers from England to New England were families. On the other hand, Chesapeake colonies were solely focused on money. Hence the movers from England to Chesapeake were young men and very less families. The Chesapeake colonies had a very high mortality rate. Living next to the Chesapeake Bay resulted in many consequences such as: mosquitoes, which carried many diseases like malaria, human waste, and salt poisoning. Due to the abundance of consequences the Chesapeake colonists had a very high mortality rate. In contrast with the Chesapeake, the New England colonies had a very low mortality rate, they colonists in New England were families, it was more stable to create a family in the New England colonies due to that fact that they had a more close to equal ratio of men to women, hence this resulted in a steady low mortality rate. Although the New England colonies and the Chesapeake colonies had many differences, they shared a common trait, freedom. During the 1600’s England’s primary religion was Christianity. Even if the citizens did not agree to follow Christianity they were forced to. As tensions grew the citizens started to discover the New world, where they would settle and practice the religion they wanted. Although both the Chesapeake and the New England colonies had roots from England, they separated into two colonies because of the different intention other than religion. Despite the separation both colonies were looking for religious freedom. Taking into considerations The New England colonies and the Chesapeake colonies differentiation , the differences, and similarities in the intentions of the founding fathers shaped the colonies the way they are. They colonies had many reasons for the formation, but the main and common reason was religious freedom, and the differences were mortality rate and religious

beliefs just to name a few. These aspects differentiate the colonies in their own ways, and had developments throughout time....
