Nursing Informatics and Nurse Informatics In the current healthcare industry, which has evolved and transformed to a new perspective, one of the essential fields required is nursing informatics. Nurse informatics is a unique field in nursing where nursing science is integrated alongside with other different information and analytical science which makes it capable to identify, analyze and explain data information in the field of nursing. Nurse informaticist have some major essential responsibilities to play in this field for example, in order for any process being implemented to be adopted, they should be able to understand the process and how it would impact the future in healthcare. For instance, when a nurse informaticist talks about the importance of recording some measures like height and allergies, the nurse usually understands long term consequences of not having some data of a persons’ health. This also enables them to boost their confidence and understanding of the new system which will make the data reliable. Nurse informaticist also have the responsibility to implement on new technology and processes since whenever there is a new electronic implementation, there is always a change is some clinical processes. The other responsibility is to validate data which promotes data driven decision making clinically through meaningful and reliable data utilization(A Nurse Informaticist: 3 Essential Responsibilities, n.d.). All these technologies are designed mostly by information technology specialists who really do not understand what the nurses need, with the help of these nurses, they are able to integrate minds and produce the best systems to be used at healthcare settings for example electronic medical record. The major role of this nurse in a nutshell is to work with computer systems alongside patient data to help develop a system. Nurse Informaticists and other Healthcare Organizations

In the current healthcare system, hospitals are becoming interested in reducing cost and also trying to implement home care rather than hospital care for some patients. Mobile health devices which are produced by information and communication technologies have an important role to help healthcare system accomplish the above goals. Informatics has helped in the evolution of nursing practices through documentation and eliminated use of for example paper charts. Nurses are now able to record notes in electric health records systems and are able to keep medical history of various patients up to date. This has enabled nurses to quickly and efficiently obtain information whenever they are needed and therefore workflow is easier. The information stored electronically makes it more easily accessible to other health practitioners or even when the patient visits at a later date. This has also helped in ensuring that there is a high level of accuracy during patient identification and also minimal error during drug provision(Informatics in Nursing, 2017). This ensures effective use of technology in improving the quality of current healthcare. The nurse informaticists are also involved in interaction with the other nurses and the interdisciplinary team. For the healthcare normal nurses, informatics major role is to help them learn how to use the newly introduced technologies during training. The nurse informatics should also ensure that the other nurses are able to pull out different available data from the existing systems in order to improve their performance and decision making. According to (De Leeuw et al., 2020),for the development and maintenance of the newly implemented systems, nursing informatics play a critical role therefore they have to interact with the workforce whenever the others have identified a system error. They also help the other nurses with their nursing research on for example introducing a new system in the healthcare setup.

Impact of full Nurse engagement in health Care Technology In the current healthcare technology, nurses are well equipped on how to effectively utilize the technology to practice and provide quality health care. With the help of training from the informaticists nurses, they are able to use healthcare technology without any concerned challenge and they also have the ability to solve any localized problem. This provides a high and distinguished level of accuracy during patient care while using the healthcare technology. This means that the data retrieved here is so accurate and therefore patient care is enhanced. The nurses’ decision making is also improved when handling patients therefore healthcare is at its best when the technology is well utilized (Brooks Carthon et al., 2019). This therefore promotes the development of healthcare system and how patients are handled in an accurate way therefore reducing medical errors. Patients’ health information is also easily secured when technology is in use although there might be breaches, there are minimal reported cases. The nurses are well trained to handle patients details in a secure way. This is accomplished through the use of strong passwords which are preferred mostly. The passwords are also updated frequently to maximize on it not being known by the wrong people. The nurses also have special log in details where they access the patient’s information through their own account which after their shift, they log out. Password sharing is also prohibited among the nurses and to the public to (Kobayashi et al., 2018). All these methods ensure that the patient’s information is well protected and confidential. As mentioned earlier, use of healthcare technology results to smooth flow of work and activities within the healthcare facility. For instance the time taken for data entry of patients details is reduced as it is easier and efficient to do it using healthcare gadgets. Errors are also reduced since the technology used is very accurate and any errors that may occur are probably

due to human error. This will surely attract more patients to the facility since everyone would like to have excellent results and being handled well at any given place. The efficiency of the technology also makes it easier to work on many people within a given time frame. All these advantages will automatically generate more money for the healthcare facility.
