Personal Jurisdiction General: -Personal jurisdiction is the power of a court to exercise control over a particular person or item of property. -Forum state: the state in which the plaintiff files the lawsuit. 3 Types below: In Personam In Rem Quasi In Rem Jurisdiction over a defendant by virtue of her Jurisdiction over a defendant because the defendant relationship with the forum state owns property in the forum state.
