Samahan ng Watawat ng Lahi...

Description

I.

Brief History of Samahan ng Watawat ng Lahi Many believed that it was Arsenio de Guzman who started to spread that Dr. Jose P. Rizal was the “Christ” and the “messenger of God”. he told the Filipinos that the Almighty God had chosen the Philippines to be the New Kingdom replacing the country of Israel. In 1911, the Samahang Watawat ng Lahi was formed in Masbate by De Guzman, Father Bolante and Engr. Relleta of the Iglesia Watawat ng Lahi, Inc. The Malvarosa Faction strongly belived that it was actually the spirit of Rizal who is speaking with Arsenio de Guzman. They believe that Jose Rizal is telling Arsenio that the people should act upright in accordance with Christ’s and Dr. Jose Rizal’s teachings. This principle was to prospered in Lecheria Hill, Calamba, Laguna in year 1936. In a house at Galas, Quezon City, around in year 1936, a certain Severino de Ang, invoked the presence of the a “Holy Voice”. This Banal na Tinig or Holy Voice had instructed Mateo Alcuran and Alfredo Benedicto to go to Lecheria, Calamba, Laguna to look for Jovito Salgado and Gaudioso Parabuac. These men, as instructed by the holy voice, met on Lecheria Hill in Calamba on December 24, 1936. They followed the call of the Holy Voice with the hopes to find buried treasure for Lecheria Hill that was known as Burol na Ginto (Hill of Gold). But, the Holy Voice admonished them to stop their search for buried treasure and spoke upon them to seek the wealth of eternal life. Starting from that, these men listened faithfully to the teachings of the Holy Voice (Banal na Tinig) every Saturday afternoon in a small nipa hut located beside a big tamarind tree at the eastern side of the hill. The Banal na Tinig (Holy Voice) drew its early worshippers from a mixture of lawyers, mystics, and skilled craftsmen. More and more people became fascinated in the lessons propounded by the Holy Voice. In 1938, the Banal na Tinig informed the group that the spirit of Dr. Jose Rizal would be their patnubay or guide together with the Mga Mahal na Magulang (Beloved Ancestors). In 1940, the Banal na Tinig instructed the group to organize into a movement called the Samahan ng Watawat ng Lahi

Viewpoints About Rizal The Samahan ng Watawat ng Lahi’s doctrine, beliefs and principles are also similar to Iglesia ng Watawat ng Lahi in which both were derived from Roman Catholic teachings and Philippine nationalism through the literary works of the Philippine National Hero, Jose Rizal. In 1987 however, the group in Bgy. Lecheria, Calamba, Laguna was racked by division among members and was completely divided after tedious legal battles. One of this sect was the Samahan ng Watawat ng Lahi headed by Luis Parabuac Sr. Unlike the other sect that still believes that Rizal is God or the Filipino Christ. The Samahan ng Watawat ng Lahi believes the otherwise. This sect discredits the role of the bishops and priests in the sect. The Samahan ng Watawt ng Lahi does not believe that Rizal never died but escaped with the use of supernatural powers. They don’t believe that Rizal is “God” in human form. Overall, the Samahan ng Watawat ng Lahi strongly believe that the Philippine National Hero, Jose Rizal, was only human.
