Description

As you can see, the link between emotional intelligence and the MBTI types is well documented. For your discussion post, answer the following questions providing evidence to support your answers: 1.What is the difference between Intellectual, Social, Cultural and Emotional intelligence? 2.In your chosen profession (i.e. business, computer science, health science), what are the benefits of knowing your MBTI type? How would you use this information to be more successful in a professional setting? 3.How can you use this information to be more successful at University of the People? Your Discussion should be at least 250 words in length, but not more than 750 words. Use APA citations and references for the textbook and any other sources used. Emotional Intelligence is the ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of oneself, of others, and of groups. It is comprehensive as it covers individual and group sides. In addition, it is not limited to a specific perspective. In other words, we can find Intellectual Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Cultural Intelligence, and Emotional Intelligence. The Intellectual Intelligence is the capacity and the ability of the mind to have the power of understanding and realizing the higher forms of knowledge and thoughts. The Social Intelligence is the capacity of a long-standing group of people sharing community aspects like the language in order to understand the elements of the society and the relationships between its members (Emmerling & Goleman, 2003). It aims to increase the knowledge of the social impacts on the society as a whole and on its components which will lead to increase the social comprehension. The Cultural Intelligence is the ability to understand the components of the culture like the arts, the customs, the lifestyles, and the habits that characterize a specific nation in order to make them a topic of pride and to renew them when it is needed. In addition, it is used to save the culture and to transfer it to the new generations. The emotional Intelligence is the ability of using the emotions and the feelings of a person or a group of people in increasing the awareness of these emotions and then controlling them to enforce their positive impacts and avoid their negative ones (Emmerling & Goleman, 2003). I am studying business administration at the University of the People. Knowing my MBTI type have many benefits. It helps me to make better decisions in my life by telling me the reason of my way of thinking and feelings. This will increase my self understanding level. In addition, I will be able to understand people around me too. Understanding the reasons leads us to understand how to behave in a better way and to achieve more of our goals. For example, it may shows us how to be happy, how to be hard worker, how to communicate well with other people around me, etc. The most important part for me is that it shows me how to stay motivated. If we understand our personality and realize the situation we are in correctly, we will behave in the best possible manner achieving positive effects and avoiding the negative ones. Another important thing I have learned is that I must look at the things I have in order to be happy and get out of stress (The Myers & Briggs Foundation, n.d.). My life in Syria especially during the disastrous years of the war has put me in long stressful moments that lasted for years. However, understanding that I do not have to control over everything around me helped me to improve my personality and to find happiness in the most difficult situations. I learned to care about humanity whatever the religion or the political perspectives of the people are. This behavior makes me hated by both sides of the conflict but that does not matter as I know I am doing the right thing and do not take part in killing and destroying the past, present, and future of Syria and its living and nonliving components. I use this information to be more successful in business administration. I still have to pass 9 courses to get my bachelor degree. I have been motivated through my journey at the University of the People because of the bad situation in Syria. We have electricity and Internet connection for four hours only a day. This helps me to be more organized and make a schedule for my studies. I learned to use what I acquire and learn in my studies and now I am teaching online at my own website. My mind started thinking about how to use each difficulty I face in opening a new horizon for my career and life.

This information makes me more successful at the University of the People. I did not fail any course till now. I feel like there is a new world and a new adventure in each course I take. I learned how to communicate with my classmates who are from different cultures and countries. I learned how to get the most benefits from my instructors and from each assignment and exam I do.
