Personal Space

Personal space is essentially a mindset, a comforter for individuals that makes them feel safer and having more freedom than that of people who are very hands on. Everyone has their own limitations and expectations on what size their own "personal bubble" size is. A lot of the indicators on what your limitations are, are based mostly on where you are and your social comfort level. For example, while someone who lives in Minnesota has a large "personal bubble", someone say here in Orlando, FL would minimal standards on personal space. Take me for example, I grew up in Tennessee and I was an introvert. I minded my own business and did not get very close to other people if I did not have too, no one really did. Then I moved down here to Orlando, I now work at Disney and Universal and I have the absolute minimal standards for personal space. I work in a unbelievably crowded place and I have gotten used to being pushed, bumped, shoved, grabbed that I hardly even acknowledge it anymore. Now in my jobs at Disney and Universal, I work very closely with people and I have tendency's to lightly touch people on their backs or shoulders as a attempt to communicate and establish a more interpersonal relationship with them. I often worry about their reactions to the light contact and luckily I have not gotten any negative feedback and instead my sales/tips double. Same thing will happen in the future, I just graduated from Valencia with my TC in EMS so working as an EMT, there is no such thing as personal space, I have to get literally right next to you and put my hands on patients. The only time that I have really ever felt uncomfortable being touched in Orlando was when I when I go to Mardi Gras at Universal and I am right next to the parade route, then you have all sorts of kids pushing to get in front of you and people pushing and jumping over you to catch beads....
