Legally Blonde Play Review...

Description

Legally Blonde When I first read the title of the play, I quickly assumed the play was going to be very similar to the movie. Although the play was in fact very similar it was quite interesting to see how the songs made it easier to read the characters emotions. With the play it was easier to not only see the emotions but how the set and characters acted made it that much unique. The plot of the story was essentially Elle following the love of her life to law school and attempting to be someone who he wanted. From the beginning it is evident that she is truly in love with him and when he breaks her heart she goes and chases after him, but instead finds herself and finds the potential she wasn’t aware she had. The strongest theme of the play was love as it is the reason why she made the life changing choice of changing her career and giving up the life she was used to follow love. Even after she realizes that Warner is not the man for her, she finds that she has fallen for Emmett which proves true love. The sets of the plays fit every scene perfectly, from her home, to the classroom, to the hair salon. The sets changed every time Elle went to a new place and helped the storyline flow. The lighting was the one who made the play much more suspenseful and helped emphasize the characters emotions. For example, Elle’s choir followed her through the entire play and helped her make the correct decisions and encouraged her and this was emphasized through the lighting focus on them. Moreover, the costumes of the characters helped understand every character’s personality and what role they played. More specifically, Elle’s attire throughout the play helped see her growth and how she grew mentally through law school.

A character I felt strong about was Elle Woods, the protagonist. Personally, I believed she was the strongest character as the entire play revolved around her. She was extremely believable in playing her part, from her clothes to her facial expressions. She wore simply yet beautiful make up that helped prove she was very girly thus adding to her character and further making her stand out from the rest of the characters. While all the other actor voice seemed normal, it was evident that hers was higher, faster and she sounded more excited. Genuinely, I truly enjoyed this performance as I am a big fan of the movie. It was very interesting to see different scenes and the songs they used made the play that much interesting....
