The purpose of these two examples have fairly obvious reasons in which they were made; however various visual aspects were clearly chosen to enhance users' experience with the document. For example the Cnet article “PlayStation 5 launch games: Every PS5 title you can play on Nov. 12” uses various large images and headings to allow users to easily navigate through their article to find bits of information relevant to them. This is similar to how sony has used large texts and images in their ps4 user manual to better assist users in operating their playstation. How do you think the needs of the intended readers of your examples be different? Both documents cater to various users as they use various types of aspects to appeal to viewers such as large text, big images and captivating colours. The people who view the ps4 manual will be looking for easy to understand information on how to use the ps4. The people viewing the manual have different needs to those viewing the article as they are not in need of information , rather choosing to view the article out of interest. Compare the size, colour, use of pictures and layout of the two documents. Why do you think they might be different? Relate this to the audience and the purpose of the document. The design layout to the Cnet article includes various images and headings to help users browse the article skimming over areas that may not be appealing to them. This is because the article aims to appeal to users and inform them of current games releasing, this is greater expressed with the use of these images and large headings. On the other hand the information and content within the ps4 user manual uses little to no images to help people with understanding the information in the manual. There is no colour making the document very boring to read. This however does not matter as the purpose is to appeal to a niche audience of people looking for answers within the user manual. How do you think the factors you’ve identified about might influence whether or not a reader will read the document? Think about size, colour, illustrations etc. Make sure you explain your answers with examples. These factors certainly influence readers when viewing these documents as the use of images and larger texts are put in place to entice viewers and attract more people to the document. In this case the article was beneficial with its use of these elements as it portrays itself as a well established, interesting and informative article. This is opposed to the dull boring ps4 user manual which uses no images, small fonts, no colours and includes large amounts of information left for the reader to understand.
