Heated to 170 degrees Chip format Needs to melt, which takes awhile Side Glue 3 millimeter stripe front & back near spine to hold cover EVA pellet format 170 degrees Slightly different Not flexible Premelter Giant external glue pot Optional (we don’t have one) Must stop machine to refill Can have external glue melt instead Don’t have to stop machine Cover Feeder Feeds from bottom cover Suckers grab bottom to infeed rollers Scored in 4 places 2 to create spine (adjustable) 2 outside spine (create hinge ¼”) We score so the pages don’t crack (fold with grain direction) Nipping Station Nipping table: receives cover, adjusts front to back (not side to side) Apply cover to book block Table presses cover up into book block spine Pushes spine in-between 2 brass plates Allow cover to be pushed down Will nip Table moves up and follows around while nipping Chute Delivery Book falls out onto chute Very manual process Must take book out Sometimes book will fall inside one another Which will apply stress to the spine Optional Delivery: belt delivery Conveyer belt Allows more time to pick up book
