PRACTICAL RESEARCH 2 NAME: LACERNA, Reymalyn Laza SECTION: 12 – HUMSS – Proverbs

ADVISER: Mr. Rommel B. Ferrer SUBJECT TEACHER: Ms. Jennifer Paragas

PRACTICAL RESEARCH 2 1ST SEMESTER – 2nd QUARTER MODULE 4 (Week 13-14) WHAT’S MORE Activity 2. Quantitative Research Designs Summary Directions: Using the template below, summarize the five quantitative research designs according to its goal, and its corresponding variable manipulation. Research Design 1. Descriptive

2. Correlational

3. Ex post facto

4. Quasi experimental 5. Experimental

Goal The goal of descriptive research is only to describe the person or object of the study. It aims to accurately and systematically describe a population, situation or phenomenon. It can answer what, where, when and how questions, but not why questions. The goal of correlational research design is to identify the relationship between variables. It aims to identify variables that have some sort of relationship do the extent that a change in one creates some change in the other. It aims to look at the possible causes of an already occurring phenomenon that used to investigate a possible relationship between previous events and present conditions.

To establish the cause and effect relationship of variables. It aims to establish the cause and effect relationship of two or more variables.

How variable is handled or manipulated There is no experimental manipulation and the researcher does not start with a hypothesis. It is observed as they naturally occur and then the associations between the variables are studied.

Neither variable is manipulated. It does not matter how or where the variables are measured. Data is collected by observation since it does not consider the cause and effect. There is no experimental manipulation in this design. It takes the effect (or dependent variable) and examines the data retrospectively to establish causes, relationships or associations, and their meanings. The independent variable is identified but not manipulated. It manipulates the independent variable and measurement of a dependent variable. It controls other variables by holding them constantly while manipulating the independent variable by systematically adjusting its level.

Activity 3. Choose the Appropriate Research Design Directions: Determine the quantitative research design appropriate for the sample research titles. Make sure to explain your choice into two to three sentences. 1. Relationship between Academic Stressors and Learning Preferences of Senior High School Students

Quantitative Research Design: Quasi-experimental Research Design Explanation: A Quasi-Experimental Research Design because the title aims to measure the casual relationship between the two variables. And the title design already establish its participants and respondents.

2. Reading Electronic Learning Materials as a Support for Vocabulary of Grade 1 Pupils Quantitative Research Design: Descriptive Research Design Explanation: Descriptive Research Design because the title shows explanation about the aims of the research. And the research title shows answers to questions like: who, which is the “Grade 1 Pupils”; what, which is the “Reading Electronic Materials as a Support for Vocabulary of Grade 1 Pupils”; where, which is the “Vocabulary of Grade 1 Pupils”; and how, which is “as a Support”. 3. Impact of the Implementation of COVID – 19 Health Protocols in Supermarkets on Consumer Behaviors Quantitative Research Design: Correlational Research Design Explanation: Correlational Research Design because the title aims to establish an association between its two variables, which is the; Impact and Implementation of COVID-19 Health Protocols in Supermarket, and the Behaviors of Consumers. 4. Effects of Morning Exercise on the Health Anxiety Level of Senior Citizens Quantitative Research Design: Experimental Research Design Explanation: Experimental Research Design because the title aims to gather information and data under a controlled or manipulated environment; which is the, Senior Citizens. 5. Measuring the Gadgets Usage of Children at Home during COVID-19 Community Quarantine Quantitative Research Design: Descriptive Research Design Explanation: Descriptive Research Design because the title aims to explain the variables in its nature by measuring it. 6. Level of Academic Achievement of Senior High Schools in Different Learning Modalities Quantitative Research Design: Descriptive Research Design Explanation: Descriptive Research Design because the title aims to show explanations about the ‘Different Learning Modalities’ by knowing and explaining the nature of its environment, which is the ‘Level of Academic Achievement of Senior High Schools’. 7. Effects of Storytelling on Quality of Sleep of Children Quantitative Research Design: Experimental Research Design Explanation: Experimental Research Design because the title aims to know or provide information about the effects of ‘Story Telling on Quality of Sleep of Children’ by gathering data under a controlled or manipulated environment; which is the Children....
