Description

Danielle Nunn Media Project Prison Break Michael Scofield who is the main character throughout the TV Series, Prison Break. He is a college educated structural engineer with a brilliant mind. The beginning of the series shows Michael in a tattoo parlor, making it known to the audience by the tattoo artist that his half body covered tattoo was impressive for a first tattoo choice. It is not shown to the audience just yet what the tattoos consist of. Michael then is inside a bank with a gun, shooting it towards the ceiling only. He did not harm anyone and cooperated with police officers and was then sentenced to 5 years in a maximum level prison called Fox River Penitentiary. Once Michael gets in prison, it is shown to be a very violent prison as someone was stabbed within the first hours of his time within the walls of Fox River. It is important to note that he seems to be very very sly and makes no mistakes and has a plan for every single choice he makes. He also posts on his medical sheet that he has type 1 diabetes. In which, we late find that he does not have this disease as he is on the hunt for beta blockers from wellknown inmates. Drugs and weapons within Fox River are a very common thing, they are very rarely caught as the prison guards are extremely corrupt and only help those that pay them. Many times within the series, the guards actually help inmates brutally attack other inmates. Michael asks around for Lincoln Burrows who was noted that he was on death row for murdering the Vice President’s brother and was going to be killed in less than a month.

Michael has a hidden plan to break Lincoln out but does not let anyone other than Lincoln know this plan until a few episodes in. He then makes contact with Lincoln and lets him know of the plan but only for a brief second, leaving Lincoln confused with a sense of hope. In order to get near Lincoln he must get within the PI program (Prison Industries), in which he has many secrets that he can use to his entry. He has inside information about the witness that is keeping the head of the PI in prison. The head of the PI is named Abruzzi. Once inside the PI program, his plan of only breaking out with his brother dismantles as he realizes he needs the help of his roommate and also Abruzzi who has great connections outside of the prison as far as getting far away from Fox River. It is known to the audience and Lincoln that Michael’s tattoo’s are actually the blueprint of Fox River and has many key clues and hints for the future of the show and the plans that Michael hopes to achieve. The Pope of the prison notices Michael’s impressive career and asks for help building a project for his wife. It is key to the plot that it is understood that the Secret Service is behind the imprisonment and conviction of Lincoln Burrows who is sitting on death row. Agent Paul Kellerman is a very powerful man who kills whoever is in the way of trying to find the truth about Lincoln’s case. It is important to note that Michael has 8 including himself to escape from the prison. Only 7 make it out alive as Charles Westmoreland (multi-millionaire from stealing) dies right before the big escape. The team escape through the pipes and eventually crawl through many different risky areas within the prison

including air ducts, to make their way to the Dr’s office who treated Michael for his type 1 diabetes that he didn’t have, who gets caught for leaving the door unlocked for Michael in the end of the season. They crawl along a wire to the edge of the wall and make their way across it to their get-away car a mile away that would lead them to the airplane that Abruzzi scheduled. It is a very intense series that shows many corruptions within the prison system and many law breaking actions and inside authority greatly abusing their powers. I highly recommend this series as it has so much more to offer than this brief summary....
