2 PROPOSAL FIRST DRAFT Proposal First Draft The workplace for many can be a stressful place and not always going to love being there. For some it can be a great place, and for some it’s an environment that you can’t wait to get out of. Though a workplace may be a pleasant place to some there are always going to be some sort of issues no matter what. Today communication seems to be a significant issue. For a workplace setting lacking communication can turn into a huge problem amongst staff and administration and even interrupt great performance of specific job functions and roles. If the lack of communication starts within the higher ups or administration in the workplace, then that is where the improvement needs to begin. There are many ways to improve communication in a workplace. The first few steps are to establish clarity, find the time, give meaningful feedback, and establish contact (Smith, 2002). For example, communication training for everyone at the company, weekly meetings to address employees needs, or even monthly communication training amongst employees and administration to help improve as much communication as . necessary and keep it that way A great way to improve communication within the workplace is to remember key ideas or issues you’d like to talk about when these weekly and monthly meetings or trainings do occur. doing so will help get things off everyones chest and also give everyone a chance to express themselves individually. Writing things down and having notes is a great way to start. Written communication is deemed to be more understood by employers (Coffelt, Grauman, & Smith, 2019). For weekly meetings, monthly meetings, and communication training in settings that are primarily with only employees and administration in a more intimate setting an oral communication style would be more efficient. For example, “Oral communication skills means a style of interacting, presenting, and conducting meetings”(Coffelt, Grauman, & Smith). Doing so

3 PROPOSAL FIRST DRAFT allows everyone to be able to express themselves especially without being judged by their colleagues and bosses. Communication may not be the only thing that a company is lacking in their workplace so it is crucial that these meetings and training go over everything that needs to be expressed amongst employers and employees. Visual communication can also help with presenting visual needs, accomplishments, and concerns within the meeting so it is another way for employers and employees to grasp what is being presented and talked about during these meetings. Visual communication is a great way to have a better understanding and visualize all aspects of the meeting (Coffelt, Grauman & Smith, 2019). Visuals sometimes help many people much better than written and oral communication because they get to physically see it, and some . people tend to learn and understand better visually Having insight on what is going on in the company helps gather more tools and information for correcting these issues. Administration of a company not only has to sit down and address issues with their co admins and employees but amongst solely the administration part of the company as well. Starting with administration it gives them good ground to explore the issues, talk about them, and come up with resolutions that can be presented in these meetings to their employees. . Administration addressing and fixing the issues in a workplace starts solely with them
