My search for the answer will begin by using the UMA virtual library. I will use Glass ceiling as a main keyword to find my answers. I will also look up the effects of glass ceiling in the healthcare field.

What have I learned?

I used to think that minorities could advance just as easily in the work force through hard work. While doing my research on the glass ceiling, I realized the biggest minority that is held back is woman. Although woman have the hardest times moving up in a company, the healthcare is slowly starting to have woman in higher positions.

What action will I take?

Knowing that woman have a harder time achieving higher positions in the healthcare field than those of men, I know I must work harder to achieve my goals. I am currently attending college for Pharmacy Tech but my ultimate goal is to become a Pharmacist. In order to become a Pharmacist, I now know that providing my best foot forward and working hard.

Glass ceiling effects so many different minorities. Gender, race, beliefs and religion are all factors that play a part of success in a career. While conducting my research I learned that the most held back individual is a female in the health care field. In the past, woman were generally nurses and didn’t get the chance to progress in their careers. Over the past several decades woman have advanced significantly and have landed positions as doctors, surgeons and chiefs in the healthcare field. Women are finally getting their chance to prove their position and worth and diminishing the
