Selfless Care and Agent of Change: A Reflection Paper in Discipline and Ideas of Social Science In our two months of discussion, I have gained a lot of knowledge which for sure would be very helpful in my future job, under the subject teacher of Mrs Nelda we got a lot of information from her. I was encouraged to do more efforts to help other people and listen to their different stories. I had to admit I had mixed emotions during the discussions, of course it was a challenged at the same time I had fun learning new things with the aid of teacher and classmates. In addition I was inspired to be like Mrs Nelda someday because of her inspiring journey in her life as a Guidance Counselor. "Dont give an advice let them the client solve their problems" If the client feels sad, depress, stress, frustrated, and do not know with who them want to share and don’t trust other people? they should seek right cunselors. A lot of service that counselors can provide with comfortable facilities. All session will be conducted in the clinics and CONFIDENTIALITY is counselor's responsible. For counseling to be successful, the counselee is willing to participate in the process. and also The ultimate goal of counseling is greater happiness on the part of the counselee. The school counselor is primarily responsible of counseling. Counselor describes as “fair, caring and approachable.” There is s one thing that caught my attention and that's the word kindness of a one counselor being a counselor is not easy but they do their job just to help those people who needs counseling even if their salary is low. Counselors is really kind because they will do everything just to help their client Guidance counseling completely changing someone’s life around client finding themselves and their mind. It was the kindness of a counselor and guidance that led the client to the right path. Developing a healthy mindset allowed client's darkest days to fade and when they have a bad day, I know who counselee is always available and can reach for Guidance counselor are always there to help you! In my personal issues, I was depressed, lonely and I couldn’t shake the thoughts and feelings I had. I had gained realizations as my teacher Nelda taught us about how counselors talk to their client. I had so much reflection many times I think of the right words to inspire myself that i am destined to succeed and failure and mistake is just a stepping stone. The consequences of having extremes (low-high) self-esteem have implication on psychological health and social function. I realized if I need someone to talk to we have School guidance Counselor that will surely aid my personal problems and it will eliminate my suicidal thoughts. And the next discussion that really had a huge impact to me was the sacrifice of a social worker is the best. Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, in addition to burnout and PTSD are occupational diseases of social workers. Not mentioned, but low pay is a HUGE stressor for many Social Workers. We are on the same level as teachers with Masters’ Degrees, but earn only about 2/3rds as much. they are very HELPLESS. They take on the burden and pain of the clients. it was a badge of honor to them when they see the clients improving to fit better to their environment. Social worker reminds me of another of my favourite quotes, “no where is it written that you have to be perfect in order to help.” inch by inch i want to become a social worker because helping to the needy is one of my hobbies back then. I got fulfillment and satisfaction whenever I gave hand to them. In addition, there is one interviewee had inspiring message to the future social workers. she said that it was very overwhelming to help others and while working they are enjoying too and got the chance to travel like going to seminars, outreach program and many more. Also take note that the social worker must be prepared in a field work. another good thing it was such a fulfillment to help people and see that your clients are happy however, when the social worker refuse to help they are mad. Contrast with this , I had negative leanings that gave me so much impact that made me think to not pursue social work because based on their experiences, the sacrifices work over load, so many clients, social work gave too much effort but they received small salary and also the normal connotation thinking of the people about social work is not giving reliefs, volunteer etc but a social work was having a big heart to the indigent people. Despite the short period of discussion. It was still a very meaningful one, it enriched my confidence and created a foundation of being a good citizen someday. It caused very huge effect to me as a HUMSS student. I learned to be diplomatic in both action and words. In every meetings we had It help me to improved my personal, emotional social as well as in my physical and mental aspects. It enabled me to embrace the atmosphere of professionalism and selfless care....
