Introduction This reflection paper is centered on my personal view on the importance of learning and applying the lessons I have learnt or may learn in this subject, that is Principles and Practice of Management (MGT420). A series of proposed question is given and I am required to answer and document them in an essay. Therefore, a reflection essay is produced as it is apart of the individual assignment for this course.

What have you learnt? So far up along the syllabus, I have learnt about roles of a manager, from how managers are fundamental to planning, organizing, leading and control an organization to make the said organization able to operate smoothly on a daily basis. Also from this subject, the lesson continues to resonate from effective team building up to conflict resolution so I learnt more on human behavior too so I can be flexible on how I act according to situations that may be vary.

What are the skills acquired from this subject? The major skill that I have assimilated from this subject is foremost leadership skills. For instance in Chapter 3 I get to learn on the professional personality traits that managers are expected to have within themselves as it gives off impact on their managerial actions. Next is I get to learn planning skills and techniques which is vital in these modern organizations especially to have really wide prospect on planning and making strategies.

Will you be using this skill in future? Yes, I find these skills are vital in order to manage an organization. Studies shown that competition to achieve decent position in modern organizations are getting difficult day by day due to more people are getting their education and qualification needed for respective sectors. With these skills, it is promised to be able to manage any given organization in addition to my qualification.

What are the benefits that you acquired from this subject? The benefit that I acquired from this subject is I am more aware of the bigger pictures in management. I used to think managing is an easy office work but now my eyes are opened on how challenging being managers can be. Therefore, I also benefit on how to take on those challenges and turn into positive outcomes.

What do you like best about this subject? It has always been my passion to learn about managing an organization, so this subject has given me the essentials I need in order to be a good manager in the future. I am also comfortable using e-book as my reference in this subject as it is actually easier to navigate through and do my readings, also helpful with the online lectures and slides provided by the lecturers of this subject. This far along I am enjoying my experience taking this subject in this semester.

Any suggestion for improvement for this subject? In my point of view, I would enjoy having hands-on experience on managing so I propose having a simulation where students are given situations to handle. This is for students to actually practice what had been theoretically learnt in class and apply it in real life situations.

Conclusion To conclude, Principle and Practice of Management is a subject that I find vital especially for students who take business management like I do. There are definitely a longer list of benefits that I couldn’t include here in my reflection essay. However, from what I expressed above in my essay definitely are from within my ow personal view on this subject and I find that I do enjoy taking lessons from this subject as it is very beneficial for my own good in future use. Also, I am grateful to be given this chance to have this subject guided by professional lecturers alongside with cooperative and helpful classmates eventhough we are all behind screens for this online distance learning period....
