Article 1: corruption 1.1 News24. 2020. Northern cape tik dealer arrested for 7 years after trying to bribe a police officerhttps://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/northerncape-tik-dealer-jailed-for-7-years-after-trying-to-bribe-cop-20200924 . (accessed on 25/09/2020) 1.2 A 41 year old man in Northern Cape, Ebere Igwe was arrested and sentenced to 7 years in jail after he tried to bribe a police officer with R1000 to make the docket disappear. The Upington magistrate court convicted him on charges of corruption and additional charges of possession of drugs, he’s sentence was a direct imprisonment. The hawks spokesperson Nonthandazo Mnisi confirmed in that Igwe and his companion were arrested back in May 2019. The hawks serious investigation corruption unit was alerted when Igwe offered the police offer R100 bribe, a sting operation was conducted resulting in Igwe’s immediate arrest. 1.3 We often link corruption to those in power and higher positions. We don’t talk about these low scale corruptions. This article shows that everyone can participate in corruption and it’s not all police officials who are corrupt, like we also say they are. Even individuals are corrupt, it’s not all police officials that are corrupt and accepts bribes. 1.4 The story relates to our criminal justice as all the 5 stages of our criminal justice system. The police were called and they did their job, the prosecutor decided to investigate the found Igwe worthy to be prosecuted, the magistrate found Igwe to be guilty of the crimes committed, the department of justice provided justice to the community and society as a large and prevented drug abuse with the supplier in jail the drugs are not easily accessible, Igwe gets to serve his sentence in jail. 1.5 Ebere Igwe and Nonthandazo Mnisi 1.6 Yes. At the end Igwe was arrested for the crimes he committed, the police officer and the hawks worked together as a unit to bring the offender to justice.

Article 2: intimidate partner violence 2.1 RESCUED FROM HELL Daily sun, p 1. Thursday 01 October: 2020 2.2 94 year old Gogo Lena Mnguni was verbally and physically abused by her helper. She is greatful that her neighbour rescued her by calling her family. Elizabeth Khati-Saphula Lena’s niece they were confused as she’s the one that hired her and they always talked. They found cuts, broken arm and bruises on Lena. The Gogo was forced to sleep every time her helper’s lover was around, failure to do so she was beaten. Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said a case of assault has been opened against the women. She’s still on the run 2.3 When we hear of IPV we expect the offence to be done a husband/father or wife/mother to her/his kids or husband/wife. I found this article intresting because it shows that the offender can be anyone who’s close to us and does not necessary to be your husband/wife. It also shows the horror and abuse our parents go through in the hands of their care-giver and its necessary to always check with our parents and the relationship they have with their helpers. 2.4 No. firstly justice has not yet been served. The police and their investigating officers have not yet found the woman and no therapy was offered to Gogo as someone who faced abuse because abuse is abuse regardless of who commits it, therefore it lives a mark. There’s been no arrest made, meaning there’s no prosecuting taking place and the a sentence has not been given to the woman for the crime she committed. 2.5 Gogo Lena Mnguni and Brigadier Leonard Hlathi 2.6 No. the woman has not been yet arrested, even if the case has been opened gogo has not gotten her justice yet. The woman is still out there while gogo Lena still has trauma because of what happened. Article 3: hate crimes 3.1 Mamba online.Com. 2020. Gay man shot dead in Soweto in suspected hate crime. https://www.mambaonline.com/2020/09/11/gay-man-shot-dead-in-sowetoin-suspected-hatecrime/?fbclid=IwAR33X187Cb9xKA2yVN7N_EZaMEMa87_W2RFK8cCcFSwbzkz qE_rnuWEi5HE ( accessed 01 October 2020) 3.2 Smangaliso’s Dyatsi body was found on the 7th of September, after being reportedly several times. The circumstances surrounding the murder are still unknown LGBTIQ organisation Access Chapter 2 (AC2), said the case is being investigated. The AC2 said ‘This is a devastating loss which should incite some reflection on violence against persons with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics”. of Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Bill was revised and approved by cabinet but it’s still in limbo. Department of Justice and Constitutional Development was called to ensure justice for all hate crime victims

3.3 Even after all this information and education about homosexuality we still have people who would rather behave like animals and kill someone just because they chose to be true to themselves. The fact that the AC2 called the Justice and Constitutional Development to ensure justice and also called out the public system and public officers for their treatment against homosexuals and for them to put effort in their investigations. 3.4 This article does not relate to our criminal justice system, just like all the other hate crime against homosexual cases they are not taken seriously. The police haven’t said anything about this case. Since the police are the first responders, it means no justice will be served until the police starts their investigation to ensure justice to the victim and the family. The police needs to treat hate crimes like they do with GBV. 3.5 Smangaliso Dyatsi and AC2 3.6 No. No arrest has being made. Even with all the laws and Acts set homosexuals still faces homophobia and hate crime...
