Neighborhood/Safety Assessment 1. Describe any safety hazards seen (i.e. pollution, stray animals, buildings in disrepair, etc.) There are safety hazards in the city, more specifically in the Industrial Heights are. There were street rats running around the buildings. There was trash build-up in the alleyways. Many of the buildings in the area were vandalized or had graffiti on them. Many of the buildings needed to be remodeled. 2. Summarize data related to drug use in the city. Use of alcohol = 26% of the population Use of tobacco = 24% of the population Marijuana = 12% of the population Heroin = 7% of the population Cocaine = 5% of the population CNS depressants = 5% of the population Club drugs = 2% of the population Methamphetamine = 0.5% of the population 3. What are the EMS response times? Fire Response Team = 6.5 minutes EMS = 7.5 minutes Advanced Life Support = 7.5 minutes 4. What types of crime are occurring in the area?

Most of the common arrests in the city were warrants (23%). People were also getting arrested for battery (17%), possession of controlled substance (16%), reckless conduct (9%), criminal trespassing (6%), and public intoxication (6%). 5. Is there gang violence? Describe. Yes, there is gang violence. Aggravated assault was the highest violent crime committed by gang members (100 incidents). There were about 40 incidents of robbery and simple assault last year. Homicide was the lowest violent, gang-related crime in the city.

Scavenger Hunt Describe the services offered by each of the following community resources. Summarize any other pertinent data found at the site: 1.
