Yaya: oh my god, that must have been really chaotic for u this morning. So, have u eaten your breakfast? Kalbi: actually no, because I was really in hurry to come to the office so I forgot to take my breakfast. Yaya: ah it’s okay, actually I just bought some food with me for my lunch but since you haven’t eaten your breakfast yet so I would like to give my food to you. Kalbi: aww, that so thoughtful of you Yaya. But what about your lunch later, what are you going to eat if I take this food for your lunch? Yaya: nah it’s okay, I will buy another food outside for my lunch later. kalbi: ok then, I will take this food but promise me that we will go eat our lunch together at outside later and it’s my treat. Yaya: aw, that was very kind of you. By the way, how was your weekend? Are you watching or reading anything really great at the moment?” Kalbi: It was great. Yaya: like seriously, I really like the intelligent way of the series like how they trying to present the criminal justice system and the issues of the day. Kalbi: yeah, like each plot is varied, deep, and involving. Like you will find yourself attached to the characters, their lives, and how they investigate their cases. You have to love it all. Yaya: oh, trust me I really love it and I don’t even miss one single episode. I wish I can have a fan meeting with those actors in that series. Kalbi: Haha, I can tell. Eh, talking about meeting, do you know about our meeting tomorrow? Yaya: I have no information as such. Would you mind telling me about it? Kalbi: Yeah, sure! this Friday there is a meeting wherein we are asked to deliver a presentation. Yaya: What precisely do we need to present? Kalbi: We need to discuss the challenges that we face in our everyday work and the steps we take to resolve those issues. Yaya: Are we only supposed to discuss the problems with the solutions?

Kalbi: Oh, No! There would be an open discussion post-presentation where you can discuss other things as well. Yaya: Now, that sounds music to my ears. Kalbi: Aha! It seems you have been looking for this opportunity for age. Yaya: You got me right. Kalbi: Anyway! I have really good news today. Oh! I am so happy. Yaya: really? what is your good news, kalbi? Kalbi: I got a promotion today. I’m going to be new supervisor of the Marketing department. Yaya: Wow, this is great news! I am so glad for you. So, you will start your new job this coming Monday? Kalbi: No, I need to finish my current projects in the Sales department before I move over to Marketing. I probably will start my new job a week from Monday. Yaya: You have a lot of experience with this company. They will be very helpful to you in your new position. Kalbi: I know. However, I have never supervised people before. I hope I will be able to cope with all the new responsibilities. Yaya: You will do fine. You are a natural leader, and you will lead well. Kalbi: You think so, yaya? actually I doubt about it and I don’t really have the confidents in me to be a really good leader. I think I really need your advice on this one. Yaya: I know so. First, being a supervisor means building a good team where members work well with each other. If members of a team do not understand their own tasks as well as the tasks of their teammates, it will be chaos. And what do you think about the second part? Kalbi: hmm for the Second, I think a supervisor needs to identify his employees’ working habits and the job requirements in order to build a better work environment, right? Yaya: Yes. In order for you to improve your employees’ performance, you need to understand their working habits and their skills. Then, you can give them a little bit of coaching if the need arises. Third, you need to find out what motivates your employees. Everybody needs to be motivated, either to find a better way of doing one’s job or putting in extra effort to perform better. Kalbi: but Things will not always run smoothly. There will be problem employees. So, fourth, I need to know how to coach, or how to counsel, or even how to discipline, right? Yaya: that right Kalbi. This is the worst part of being a supervisor. You need to be strong enough to cope with problem employees, to be wise enough to counsel them, and even be “mean” enough to discipline them. kalbi: If I want to lead, then I need to prove that I am a good leader. Yaya: Those are the things that you need to do in your new position. But don’t worry, you will do fine. All you need to do is change your leadership style a little bit in this new environment.
