SITUATION 2 As a management executive, you and your management team are discussing about the poor performance of an employee. He/She keeps making mistakes in his/her work such as simple calculations. This has given the company a bad reputation. When advised, he/she says that the mistakes would not be repeated, yet they continue to happen. Discuss the best way to deal with this problem.

Syifa: I see that our employee performance for this month is not really satisfied compared to last month. Is there any issue with our employee because it can affected our company reputation. Wan: Actually I got a few complaint from our client regarding our valuation report. Some of our team also complain that the content quality of the valuation report is not fulfilled according to our company criteria. Syifa: Who is the person who responsible for the valuation report? Wan: It is Masturah Mohd Omar our new trainee. She keeps making mistakes in her work such as simple calculations. This has given the company a bad reputation. When I advised, she says that the mistakes would not be repeated, but it continues to happen. Syifa: This should not be taken lightly we need to address this issue immediately so that this matter doesn't happen again in the future. So, what do you think the best way to deal with this problem? Wan: I think the best way we can do is by refer back to her supervisor, Encik Habibullah so that he can provide her with an inadequate training and development opportunities. She might need an extra training as she is new to our company. Syifa: I’m agree with you wan it is a good idea. Without a proper training, some employees get stagnant and don’t improve their performance. In addition, because she is our new trainee instead of advised and warn her how about if you try to conduct a meeting and ask what causes her to underperform. Wan: Sure, I will do that. In order to find out the actual reasons I will try to make time to conduct one-on-one meetings with her. Syifa: I will monitor her progress regularly and make sure that she realize our expectations on her performance, including the quality of work we expect to receive from her. I hope the action taken will improve our employee performance along with the company reputation. Is there anything else?
