(i) p-Aminophenol 5.5 gm, (ii) Acetic anhydride 6 ml Procedure. In aa 250 ml conical flask take 5.5 gm p-Aminophenol and 15ml to water. To this add 6ml acetic anhydride with constant shaking. Warm the mixture on a water bath for about 15 minutes, when the solid dissolves compelety to produce a clear solution cool and filter the precipitated p-Acetylaminophenol in a buchner funnel with suction. Wash it with cold water, drain well and recrystallise it from hot water. Dry the recyrstallised product by pressing between the filter papers.
