In the budget, the finance minister has maintained 10% long term capital gain tax and 15% short term capital gain tax on profit of more than Rs1 lakh, exc ept fo r indexation, earned from shares. However, he has levied the 10% tax on equity mutual fund dividends. As a result, the market witnessed high volatility and on Friday, market crashed with dip of 256 points in Nifty and 840 points in Sensex. More correction is expected in coming days.
