Essay about cell phone use....

Description

Addiction to cell phones How many of you are not carrying a cellphone today? Another one: how many of you are not holding cellphone in your hand right now? And how many of you are not texting or checking social media right now? My name is Sumila Shrestha and today, I’m here to give you some information about pros and cons of using cellphone. I know that you are aware of the facts that cellphones and internet have invaded or captured the whole world and that you may be thinking why should we listen to the information that we already know. I am going to assume my speech as a revision of the facts you already are aware of but, yet, ignore the fact and let yourself or your world be captured by those man-made human control machines. Importance of cellphone: Cell phone has made this world a very small place to live now. This toy has given us the ability to stay connected with friends, families, and business associates throughout the world. Not only that, it helps us during the emergencies, help us find directions in a new city or country, does the work of capturing instant pictures and videos, gives access to banks right on your palm and the countdown keeps going. It has simply eased our lives to the great extent. In fact, not owning a cell phone or not knowing how to use it has become some kinds of shame lately.

Days before the invention of cellphones: The biggest thing I miss after the cellphones invaded the world is the direction maps I used to use in paper form when I travelled. The struggles to find the locations in foreign countries, and the relief after finding the destinations was different kind of fun. Also, memorizing phone numbers, carrying phone book, filling up/ collecting memorandum from people especial to you, carrying vintage camera to capture moments were the days before cellphones and internet invaded the world. Teenagers would not lock themselves up in their room playing with their cellphones updating stories and pictures on social media. Also, the addiction of working parents to be on phones even while sitting on dining tables along with the family did not exist in that world. According to The Telegraph, one in seven (15%) of 1,500 Bris surveyed admitted that they have missed speeches at wedding, while one in ten (10%) have missed seeing their kids perform in their school performance or missed the moment they were on stage at their graduation because more than 40% were trying to text people, a quarter (25%) were habit checking their phone with one in ten (10%) even checking latest news feeds on social media. What problems cell phones have caused: The cohort study conducted in Denmark by National Cancer Institute (NIH) states that the billing information was linked from more than 358,00 cell phone subscribers with brain tumor incidence data from the Danish Cancer registry. Despites the fact that the especial radiation energy is emitted by the cellphones that may cause tumor, I can guarantee that these devices have caused great conflict in personal relationships may it be husband-wife relationships, or couples, or gap between parents and offspring. This device is so mischievous yet so honest to its master that it allows passcodes

like finger scan, face scan or some kinds of body scan for access. The technology has ruined personal lives same time it has advanced lives. Well, there are all known facts, yet people forget how this toy has already controlled you so much that you do not even bother to see what you are losing already. I bet this toy is the last thing at night and the first thing in the morning 95 % people see before they see their loved ones. Unfortunately, I do not have any solutions to taper off the addiction to this toy. Ironically, people does not even feel the need to taper off its addiction. So, through this speech, I would like to make an awakening call to you, my audience. Please go home and mull over it. Resources: Cell Phones and Cancer Risk. National Cancer Institute (NIH) 2016.
