Speech on Gender Equality in the workplace....

Description

You are an employee within a company and are asked to prepare a speech at your workplace on a topic of your choice for a group of international visitors from Saudi Arabia which would serve one of the following purposes: to inform, demonstrate, persuade, entertain or be ceremonial. As is the case for the topic of your speech, the choice is yours in terms of what the purpose of your speech will be, but it is important to remember that the topic must pertain to some aspect of your company and its business; therefore, giving a speech about your love of ice cream sundaes for example, would not be appropriate. Also, you need to keep cultural sensitivities in mind regarding the content of your speech by paying attention to the themes of language, perception and ethnocentrism and how they relate to your Saudi Arabian visitors. Please feel free to consult the internet regarding Saudi Arabian culture and business practices. Speech: Working on Gender equality in the workforce Your Highness, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen My great thanks go to her Royal Highness Princess Gloria Agoro, the Secretary-General of Business Connection, for inviting all of us to present this speech to our guests. It is a great honour and pleasure to join you at the Business Connection Conference and to reflect with you on the evolving of "working on gender equality in the workforce" When I was reflecting on the topic of my speech today "working on gender equality in the workforce". I thought to myself that South Africans women have much to celebrate today. They have the Mother of Nation, the late Winnie Madikizela Mandela the South African apartheid activist and politician who served as the member of parliament before she died. It is surely a perfect time for us to reflect on how we can drive the gender equality in the workforce in the worldwide. There is now ample economic evidence that a country's economic prospects are conditioned by how engaged woman are in the workforce, how able they are to engage in the boardroom and how can they thrive, but since Saudi Arabia is a well-known country about its high levels of gender inequality. Whereby the gender apartheid is well documented, and women are generally expected to wear a full Hijab in public and the literacy of women is high compared to other countries and education is highly gendered in a way that women are prohibited from studying

traditional male subjects such as law and engineering. (Janice Turner). This gives a 97 percent of social sciences and education female degrees because they are deemed to be suitable for women. The Saudi Vision 2030 presented by His Excellency Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saudi, Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs reflects the assumption which affirms that the Saudi economy will provide opportunities for everyone, young and old so that they may contribute to the best of their abilities. It states that Saudi women are a great asset and that over 50 percent of university graduates are female, by this, it states that the Saudi Vision 2030 pledges to continue to develop their talents and invests in their productive capabilities and enable them to strengthen their future and contribute to the development of the society and economy. (Joelle Tanguy) South Africa has made great strides in gender equality and is a model to other countries, but the country is still suffering from some very strong and outdated attitudes towards differences in genders and the rights of men and women. There was a national struggle against outdated practices and prejudices which was the emancipation of women that demanded equal effort for both women and men. In South Africa, gender equality can be improved by empowering women and give society a reason to respect women. In brief, the working on gender equality in the workforce can be improved by empowering everyone to participate fully in economic life across sectors and throughout all levels of economic activity to establish more stable and just societies and improving the quality life for everyone and the performance of the business. In conclusion, let us together drive acceleration in the workplace by following our dreams no matter what obstacles we face, a drive to succeed will get us to where we want to go and whenever there is an opportunity to rise we must follow it.
