Examining the Interview Through this interview the participant was gracious enough to share her story about the portion of her life when she was hospitalized. It was very surprising to hear she said they asked her a lot of questions, one of which was "do you give consent for blood transfusion?". At first, she did not understand why they would ask for permission to give her something she needed. Since certain religions, such as Judaism, forbid the use of another person's blood, this question is included in a spiritual examination. In her case she knew that with her religion and faith they authorized blood transfusions, therefore she continued with the procedures. Her spiritual health played a huge role in her treatment process, and she would often pray many times throughout her day. To her surprise, there were countless staff member who would join in with her as she turned to God. She mentioned that all of her caretakers were kind and understanding of her religious beliefs. Her most important takeaway from her latest hospital visit is to make focus on oneself. One of her expectations of the nurses was that they treat her with respect and kindness. Throughout her stay, she was astounded by the level of respect and care exhibited by the employees. She told me that she meditates to keep herself calm which helps to be quick to understanding and slow to anger since she knew that condition may worsen if she becomes too stresses. The healing of the body and mind is aided by creating a quiet environment. As a healthcare professional, I will ensure that I am looking out for my patients' best interests. I believe that doing a spiritual assessment to see how I can make all patients feel at peace while yet sticking to any religious constraints can create a better environment for all. I personally would love to join in prayers and to always ask God to watch over his children as they go through their challenges. I had an amazing opportunity to interview this individual and was able to learn so much from her. She was very open and loved to share her story so that it can be a call to anyone who is going through tough times to reach out to our lord and savior....
