Description

I believe that conflict cannot be completely weeded out of an organization for good. As fallen humans with plenty of flaws, we have a tendency to have conflict. Every human is so widely different that conflict is inevitable, organizations can put restriction in order such as no political or religious talk in the workplace but that will not guarantee everyone will follow it. They also cannot restrict all topics of conversation; I believe conflict is inevitable but not always a bad thing. It is important that organizations know how to handle conflict and sometimes even use it in a positive way. I think conflict can possibly negatively affect a church or nonprofit depending on the topic at hand. At my old church back in Pennsylvania, my Priest was pushing mask usage during mass and he was pushing the political agenda behind it. Many parish members spoke out against this and confronted our priest and expressed how dividing it is to tell people they cannot attend mass if they won’t wear a mask and comply. It impacted the church so negatively that the parish went from having 200 attendees on Sundays down to 60-70 as so many families found new churches. I think when it comes to conflict resolution it is so important for both parties to speak freely and to get everything out. I would resolve conflict in an organization by making sure to air out all of the issues between the two parties along with staying absolutely neutral. As a third party I would practice actively listening and catching every detail while being completely aware of all my nonverbal communication. Empathy is also key as a third party or a manager as you have to empathies with both parties and really let them know you truly care and how important peace is. I also think when emphasizing peace in an organization it is really important to make sure everyone respects one another as human beings. 1 Peter 2:17 Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king....
