I personally can relate to this ad because on deployment I would smoke camel cigarettes and never decided to use an oil lamp to light it. This ad appeals to me personally because I for a period I was smoking that brand of cigarettes almost daily, since it was a social activity that we did on the ship. Since part of my identity revolves around the Navy, I feel a sense of connection to the man smoking in the woods where he is most likely working.
Diaderm: Anti-Wrinkle Cream https://www.adsoftheworld.com/media/print/diadermine_the_couple My first reaction to this ad was that this product would probably work, since the women in the picture did not look any different. Then I was beginning to wonder, wait why can’t I, a male, remain youthful over that long period as well. This made me think about how in my society it is assumed that women must remain youthful, but someone my age in the Navy is accepted to look a lot older than we actually are.
Borsodi Beer: Counter https://www.adsoftheworld.com/media/print/borsodi_counter My first reaction to this ad mainly revolved around the usage of gnomes, and why that would work for selling beer. I was shocked that they wouldn’t be promoting their merchandise in their ad. Then I began to realize that was the whole point to the ad, that the men are distracted by the scantily clad women handing them their drinks. I personally related to this ad initially, because in the Navy we drink different beers in the ports that we hit as another form of social gathering.

My first reaction was that is cool, I would like to sit and drink beer while my girlfriend shopped. It made me curious into how they are assuming that their consumer base is against shopping and will be willing to give it up for a cold beer. I relate to this because I to like a beer and hanging out in lounges avoiding my responsibilities involving shopping for clothing with my girlfriend....
