Description

Advertisement 1: Whirlpool: Finding Time Transcript This advertisement was probably my favorite, primarily because I could relate! That was me when my kids were younger. My primary emotion while watching it, honestly, was nostalgic; missing those days, even though they were crazy! The advertisement made me interested in taking a closer look because of the parallels between it and my actual life. Sometimes it’s nice to know you aren’t the only one going through it! It also seems to say that the hectic, busy lifestyle that demands you fill every second of the day is the expected way to be in our society. Advertisement 2: Coldwell Banker Real Estate: Home’s Best Friend. I enjoyed this video, it made me feel happy and energized. The main reason I was initially interested in it, is because I am a dog lover. I could relate to it because that is very much how I feel when I come home to my animals. I would imagine that was the main reason for the angle that this advertisement chose. So many people are pet lovers, so they tend to pay attention. Dog is man’s best friend, Coldwell Banker is Home’s best friend. That perhaps is supposed to show you how devoted Coldwell Banker could be to you. Advertisement 3: 2015 Volkswagen Passat TDI Clean Diesel “Mom” Commercial1 - YouTube. Honestly, although I am sure this advertisement was intended to be cute and funny, it irritated me. I felt that it was ridiculously stereotypical. The idea that children are out of control, misbehaving nuisances that Mom just can’t handle, therefore you need to be able to get better gas mileage so you don’t have to stop, was annoying to me. I know some kids are terrors like that, but for that to be the expected behavior says a lot about our society today. Not too long ago, that behaviour would not have been considered or tolerated. To insinuate that it is funny, seems to give it permission, if that makes any sense. Advertisement 4: Hospital Austral Print Advert By DDB: Family Plan, Tabasco | Ads of the World™ This was also an advertisement that was meant to be on the humorous side, but very stereotypical. I think I just chose it because of the stereotype and today’s society of always being plugged in. Sadly, it does portray the dad as being irresponsible and unable to look away from his phone long enough to take care of their child. I also found it interesting, reading the comments below the advertisement, that no one seemed to know what they were trying to sell. Perhaps it was just a reminder to put down your phone and do a better job living life?...
