SUMMARY Rockwell Automation is a worldwide company which focused on provide first-class power, control and IT solution for manufacturing industry. The company main products help its customers to increase their productivity and achieve their organizational goals. For example, PLC, Input Output module, software, industrial safety products and so on. When this company faced with the global demand for fuel, they transform the way to do business by take advantage of Internet of Things(IoT). Rockwell Automation’s customers used Microsoft Azure IoT to monitor their remote assets. This exacting system could help with reduces costly downtime which they could potential failure in real-time and provide remote troubleshooting. Rockwell Automation operates its business Architecture and Software, and Control Products and Solutions segments. Architecture and Software segment consists hardware, software and communication components of the company which could controlling the customer's industrial processes and connecting with their manufacturing enterprise. Architecture & Software has a broad portfolio of products, including control platforms that perform multiple control disciplines and monitoring of applications, including discrete, batch, continuous process, drives control, motion control and machine safety control. Control Products and solutions is another segment which process portfolio of intelligent motor control and industrial control products. Once Rockwell Automation is paper-based system, now changed into exacting system which could help us to achieve new heights and operational intelligence. Advanced Technology could help the companies to achieve their organizational goals effectively compare to the traditional system.

(a) What is Rockwell Automation’s relationship with the oil and gas industry? Rockwell Automation is the largest provider of industrial automation and information solutions in the world. Rockwell Automation provide services and products to oil and gas industry. The products provide to oil and gas industry is control systems, industrial control components, information software, motor control devices, sensing devices, network technology, safety technology, and industrial security. The services provide to oil and gas industry is repair, asset management consulting and remote support centres and training. Products of Rockwell Automation is a must to the areas of the global oil and gas supply chain. Rockwell Automation provided services and products to their customer’s companies which involved in extracting, moving, refining and selling fuel, to make sure their equipment can run smoothly and with lowest the maintenance. The products and services provided by Rockwell Automation usually decide an oil and gas industry’s efficiency and development.

(b) How has the Internet of Things changed the oil and gas industry? Internet of Things will allow your organization make analysis and process data, that you can make informed decisions in real-time. Internet of Things able to make the supply chain of oil and gas industry more efficient. In oil and gas industry, there is a lot of assets are in remote areas, Internet of Things able to collect data from all the assets in real-time. So, we could get the business insights according the data collected. For instance, the oil drilling platforms off Alaska’s Coast, Rockwell Automation remotely monitors the medium voltage drives in order to power the pumps that alerting our customer to solve the issues or failure in real-time by the way provide remote troubleshooting that probably could reduce costly downtime and maintenance. In Texas, there is a massive pieces of measurement equipment known as metering skids. It helps to track the movement of oil in real-time when across miles of rugged terrain. Rockwell electrical pumps will send the data of every fuel station across the country to cloud, so that Rockwell will get the latest updates of inventory. When meet the growing demand for natural gas, data visibility across the entire supply chains enables insights, that help our customers to plan everything from deliveries to equipment maintenance ultimately. To achieve great efficiency and create better fueling experience to drivers.

(c) Why was Microsoft Azure a good choice for Rockwell? The equipment used by Rockwell Automation’s customers for extracting, moving, refining and selling fuel normally are come from several manufactures and the price are expensive. Microsoft Azure enables unprecedented efficiency by bringing the data generated, even the remote assets. Once Rockwell Automation is paper-based system, now is an exacting system. Rockwell Automation is extending its systems which monitor these valuable capital assets and the data are used for predictive. The Microsoft Azure solutions have the transformed the fuel supply chain and produce bottom-line results in global productivity that probably could ultimately pay off at the pump. These benefits made Microsoft Azure become a good choice for Rockwell Automation.

(d) What business problems did Rockwell’s partnership with Microsoft and implementation of IoT technologies solve or alleviate? Rockwell Automation are using Microsoft Azure IoT services to extend their business which could remote monitor, planning and predictive maintenance. Microsoft are having cloud services that connect, monitor and control billion of IoT assets. The business problem faced by Rockwell is hard to monitor and control the remote assets. • Microsoft Azure IoT services enable the organization received the data of the remote assets in real-time. For instance, Rockwell able to track the inventory and movement of oil in real time. This probably allow Rockwell to gain more control over its supply chain performance. •Microsoft Azure IoT services enable the organization monitors the drilling platform and pump to make sure it operates normally. It also able to alerting Rockwell’s customer to potential issues or failure in real time and provide remote troubleshooting that could reduces costly downtime effectively. •Innovate of cloud enable monitor the inventory and performance of pumping system all over the world via fuel pumps at each fueling station to collect the data.

A smart home technology could minimize the money and time spent by homeowners effectively, and provides more convenience and cost saving experience. Smart home allows homeowner control the application ,devices and furniture remotely using a smart phone with internet linking. Normally, the smart homes are set up through hardwired system or wireless system. • Wearables. Wearable device have experience an explosive demand around the world. There is a lot of electronic devices company invest heavily in building wearable device, for instance, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor, Apple and so on. The wearable devices can continuous monitor and collect the information and data of the users in real time. For example, activity level, quality of sleep, heart rate. The wearable devices will also predict and alerting the users for some importance activity, like menstruation cycle....
