Description

Watership Down Chapter 1:    

2 young rabbits, Hazel and Fiver are out feeding 1 year old and not their full weight Hazel will be a large rabbit but Fivel will not be a large rabbit Fivel discovers a sign that says that a housing development is soon to be built right on top of their warren

Chapter 2:  

Fiver has a nightmare that something terrible will happen to the warren and he convinces Warren that they must go to visit the Chief Rabbit Fivel is ignored and Threarah doesn’t believe him about his premonition

Chapter 3:   

Hazel, Fiver and 2 of their friends Dandelion and Blackberry are discussing the conversation with the Chief Rabbit when BigWig comes up to the group. He has left Owsla and wants to leave the warren with them Hazel says that they will leave the warren and try to convince the other rabbits to come

Chapter 4:     

Hazel, Fivehr and Pipkin wait for the other rabbit to arrive Dandelion gets Hawkbit to come and Blackberry bring Buckthorn, a large rabbit likely to soon be member of the Owsla Just before they leave, Captain Holly, leader of the Owsla, comes to arrest Bigwig because he believes they want to overthrow the Chief Rabbit Bigwig attacks Holly and forces him to reatreat The rabbits leave

Chapter 5:    

The rabbits spend the night crawling through the woods Hazel leads them forward Rabbits get exhausted, they decide to rest They are tense so Hazel asks Dandelion to tell him a story

Chapter 6:  Dandelion tells the story Chapter 8:

Hazel knows that the other rabbits may not want to ross the river but Fiver tells him that they must. Big wig wants to know what they are going to do, and Blackberry convinces him to swim across and take a look at the other side to make sure its safe Bigwig comes back and tells them there is a dog loose in the woods Hazel realizes they must get across, but Pipkin in hurt and will not be able to swim Blackberry figures out a way to float Fiver and Pipkin on a piece of wood, and they all get across safely *** WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END

Chapter 9: 

   

While most of the rabbits sleep, Hazel goes to find a safer place for them, and he discovers a field of bean plants that will provide cover and hide their smell from predators They go to the bean field Suddenly, a crow attacks Pipkin and Fiver who are struggling behind the others Bigwig knocks the crow over Hazel removes the thron from Pipkins paw that has been making him limp

Chapter 10:    

The rabbits are awakened by the sound of a gun shot Hazel stops when he sees a car – doesn’t know about cars Bigwig explains that cars are not dangerous during the day but they are at night Hawkbit, Acorn and Speedwell come to Hazel and tell him that they want to go back – Hazel telld them how ridiculous that idea is

Chapter 11:   

Hazel knows that Acorn, Speedwell and Hawkbit are unhappy because of the way Bigwig has kept them in line and he knows they need some rest They continue to travel and come upon a perfect field GOOD ANALYSIS

Chapter 12:      

The rabbits scratch out a few holes. All rabbits are males They are getting starred at by a super large rabbit They go see him – his name is Cowslip Cowslip invited them in his warren, which has many empty burrows Cowslip leaves for a bit- the rabbits discuss

 

Fiver believes they should stay away Hazel decides they will go to Cowslips warren

Chapter 13:     

Cowslip’s warren is consipucous, and Hazel leads the rabbits down into it Hazel’s group quickly mixes with the other rabbits Strawberry who lives in the warren talks to Hazel and tells him that they don’t need to worry about enemies because the neighbor always shoots them Strawberry shows Hazel some art work they’ve done Hazel realizes that Strawberry wont answer any question beginning with the word where

Chapter 14:     

The rabbits want go to eat somewhere outside but Cowslip insists that they stay inside as there is plenty of food Hazel insists, and Cowslip laughs (laughing is foreign) Hazel, Blackberry and Pipkins go outside to discuss how weird the other rabbits are They go to sleep They are awakened by Strawberry who says there is good food outside

Chapter 15: 

They tell a story

Chapter 16: 

The rabbits continue to worry about whats going on in the warren

Chapter 17:  

Hazel wakes up and realizes that Fivel isn’t there He goes to look for him

     

Bigwig goes back to the warren but gets caught in a snare Fiver gets the others and wants to help Bigwig They got him out but they realize that Cowslip and the others wouldn’t come out to help Suddenly Bigwig says he is going to kill Cowslip All of the rabbits are going to go kill the rabbits but Fivel calms them down to tell them what he figured out He figures out that the snares are put by the farmer – they know they are there

Chapter 18: 

The rabbits leave and travel quite a distance

Chapter 19:     

Blackberry suggests to Hazel that they make a warren for themselves Although girl rabbits usually do it, the guys get to work The rabbits go look for grass and they hear a loud noise, who starts calling out BIGWIG Hazel goes to see what it is It is Captain Holly of the Owsla(from their home warren) in terrible shape on the verge of collapse

Chapter 20:       

Hazel realizes they are in danger because Holly is bleeding and will attract predators Soon Bluebell appeard – Holly’s friend The rabbits get Holly and another friend into the hole where they can rest The rabbits continue making their warren – Strawberry helps because he knew how the other warren was built Hazel saves a mouse by telling it to come into the hole Holly recovers and wants to tell a story The mouse tells Hazel he will help him in the future as Hazel helped save his life

Chapter 21:   

Holly explains that one day as she was out and about, she saw a man and a kid out filling in all rabbit holes and putting poison in them Cowslip attacked the rabbits but Holly and Bluebell managed to escape Holly escaped and was going to kill Cowslip but Cowslip told them where Hazel and the other were

Chapter 22: 

Befriending the mouse was a good idea, because the mouse told them where good grass is

Chapter 23:      

They find an injured gull – never seen one before – they bring it worms and bugs They try to tell the bird they want to help but the bird wants nothing to do with them They convince the bird to stay in a hole to recover The bird becomes friendlier with them The birds realize they need some :does to help build their warren… so they ask the bird who can travel quicker to find some The bird agrees to go find females

Chapter 24:   

ANALYSIS IS GOOD They plan to get females to help them Hazel is befriending other animals

Chapter 25:  

Fiver tells Hazel he sees danger for him, so Hazel says he wont go into the open land alone They are walking and run into a cat.. they kick it sending it running

Chapter 26: * Fiver has a dream in which he sees that Hazel is still alive...
