Description

What sustainability development goals (SDGs) were incorporated? SDGs are targets presented by the United Nations for the global development in September 2015 and is set to be achieved by 2030. There are a total of 17 SDGs and all countries around the world had agreed to work hard to reach all 17 sustainability development goals. Not only governments of countries need to achieve these goals, but it is also the companies or corporations’ responsibility to achieve these goals too. In this case, Pecca will also need to take actions to incorporate the SDGs in their company in order to make the world better by reduce the issues of climate change or other critical challenges that is currently happening around the world.

The first SDGs that Pecca had incorporated is the third goal among the seventeen goal which is the good health and well-being goal. This goal aims to ensure that all age levels can have a healthy life. It is also being done by reducing some common killers that might killed the citizens which include the Covid-19 disease too. They have incorporated this goal by venturing into the developing, producing and supplying of personal protective equipment as the cases of Covid-19 diseases in Malaysia is rising. They have repurposed their current production lines and train their workers to carry out the personal protective equipment business. They had witnessed the situation of the Covid-19 outbreak in the early phase and had tried to figure what they can bring to the community. Pecca has allocated RM 2.2 million for the setting up of the face masks production line. They wish to produce quality personal

protective equipment at reasonable price so that the community can purchase the products without spending huge money on it. They had also donated and will continuously donate these products to the medical community under this CSR program. The second SDG that the company had incorporated is the fifth SDG which is the gender equality goal. The main purpose of this goal is to make sure females have the equal access to all sectors as the males. Pecca group targets to have at least one female director or a minimum of 20% women representatives on the board. Currently, they have 2 female members in the board which is equivalent to 29% of the board. Pecca is also committing workplace diversity by ensuring the workplace is fair and respect to the differences to all workers. However, this goal is not being fully achieved as the percentage of female workers or female representatives in the board still has a big difference compare to the percentage of male workers or male representatives....
