Course Objectives
This is a second course in financial management. Topics include conceptual and analytical aspects of financial decision-making. Risk-return analysis, capital budgeting, capital structure, valuation, cost of capital, dividend policy, working capital management, mergers and accusations, and financial statement analysis. The course is designed to prepare you to pass the corporate finance section of the CFA exam.

Student Learning Outcomes
The course learning outcomes are understanding the conceptual and analytical aspects of financial decision-making. Specifically, evaluating the corporate governance structure of firms, applying the fundamental concepts and tools of corporate finance, conducting capital budgeting analysis to the questions faced by a manager in investment decisions, estimating the costs of capital, analyzing the financing decisions and dividend decisions faced by the firm, conducting extensive financial statement analysis, and evaluating mergers and accusations.

Prerequisites
Completion of FIN 350 with a grade of C– or better is required to enroll in this course. Restricted to upper division finance majors. If you do not satisfy this requirement, please drop the course as soon as possible.

Teaching Style
Teaching methods incorporate lecture, class discussion, in-class problem solving, regular quizzes, midterms and the final exam. Students are strongly encouraged to contribute to classroom discussion.

Course Expectations
You need to be prepared that this course will be very demanding in terms of work load. Your individual study and preparation outside of the classroom is extremely important for your success in this class. You must keep up with the lecture. Much of the material builds on itself, which would make it difficult for you to catch up if you fall behind. You are expected to print out or download the lecture notes before each session. This will greatly enhance your learning and your ability to take effective notes during class. Class attendance is very important for your learning. You are expected to attend every class on time and stay the entire session. If you have to miss a class, make sure to borrow class notes from your classmates.

At each class, you are required to complete a quiz which covers the lecture material of the previous class.
