Ashley Romans Tate ENG 1213 4/25/19 The Birth-mark By: Nathaniel Hawthorne Her birthmark symbolizes her insecurities. He wants her to be utterly perfect and wants to brag about that. He does everything he can to get rid of her birthmark. Once she realizes that she is okay the way she is and he can not handle a real woman for who she is, she tells him and then she passes. Without flaws and insecurities, we would not be human, and we die. We have to see the faults in order to see the great. We have to have light to see in the dark. If everything was light, there would be nothing to discover. Right before she passes, he shows immediate regret. He realizes that she is who she is because of her insecurities and faults. No one is perfect and if you are going to love, you’re also not perfect. Love is loving someone for and in spite of their differences....
