Summary of the Emperor's New Clothes Reading for class....
Notes - Obsessed with his new clothes, beautiful, likes to show them off, only does stuff if he’s showing them off, not concerned about other stuff like public events/soldiers - Two swindlers “weave” the best quality clothing - it can only be seen on something who is approving to wear it - Both pretend to weave but there is really nothing there - Prime minister and another trusted counselor go to check on the weaving - but they don’t see anything. Embarrassed because they think they are unfit for their positions so they don’t want to say anything and just agree it is beautiful. They lie and tell emperor it is going well and describe patterns/colors as the weavers described them - Emperor pretends to see as well because he doesn’t want to think he is unfit for his position. The others prepare clothing as usual (but it is fake). Emperor pretending to like it and same with everyone else. - Little child yells that he has nothing on and the father tells all the townspeople to listen to him. Others start agreeing until all agree. Emperor is certain they are right but has to act proudly until the end of the procession....
