SUMMARY The lion and the mouse One day a mighty Lion (poderoso) was taking a nap under a large tree after hunting all morning some mice that lived at the foot of the tree scrambled over the lion to return home, but as the last mouse was crawling (arrastrandose) over him, the lion woke up and late his big paw on the little mouse, trapping him. The mouse was very afraid, he begged the lion to spare (perdonara) his life and let him go. The lion pity the little mouse set him free. After a while the lion, while he was walking near the mouse´s home, accidentally stepped on a trap set by a hunter, he struggled (lucho) to set himself free but he couldn’t. the mouse heard the lion’s cries and remembering the lion’s kindness the mouse climbed the tree to the trap and used his sharp teeth to gnaw (roer) the ropes and set the lion free. The lion ad the mouse were friends forever and learned that it´s good to help someone who has helped you. End. Miss Bracegirdle’s night of fear This was the miss Bracegirdle’s first visit to France. She did no usually take holidays away from home. While She was taking her things out from her bag, she started to think about her home in Easingtoke and in her brother who was working too hard. Her time in France was to be quite short and she was going to be home really soon. Before she went to bed, she decided to take a hot bath, so she took her day things and put her nightdress, then she picked up her washing things and went to the bathroom, closing her bedroom quietly. While she was laying in the bath, she started to think about how the people in the hotel were very friendly and always ready to help. She got out of the bath and put her nightdress again, then she cleaned the bath very carefully because she didn´t want French people to think that the English were dirty. When she went back to her bedroom and closed the door the door-handle came off in her hand, she tried to put the handle back on the door but she couldn´t. She turned away from the door, and suddenly, she saw something much worse than the doorhandle, there was a man in her bed. She started to think that she should be in the wrong room, it was the man´s room. She tried to open the door with her fingers, but it was worthless. She had an idea, she would get under the bed and wait until the man went to work, so after the man open the door or asked for help, she could sneak to her room and nobody would know what happened. She lay down on the floor and got under the bed, no sound came from the man above her. In one moment, she felt what she was going to sneeze, and she couldn’t stop it. She was afraid that the man heard her and made something bad to her, but nothing happened. Mis Bracegirdle knew that she couldn’t stay under the bed, it was better to wake the man and tell him everything. So, she got out from under the bed and started the call the man as strongly as she could, but nothing happened, the man was laying dead on the bed To be in an unknown man´s bedroom was bad, but to be in a room with a dead man was much worse, people were going to think that she killed him. She started to look for something to open the door. she found a small knife in the man´s jacket and use it to open it. She ran to her bedroom and when she lay down on the bed she remembered that her washing things were in the man´s bathroom and they had her name on them, so she went to get them, although she was very afraid. The next day she was told that the unknow man was a famous killer wanted by the police.
