Metaphor represents something that you can compare to, for example the roach that Gregor compared himself too. When you think of the insect its noting beautiful as a butterfly. Gregor used to term because he felt isolated from the world and how he was being treated by his father to learn that there was more money then he thought to be. Which at the end he felt just like a roach, a disgusting useless insect.

Explain how the emotion connects with the author, Franz Kafka, and the character Gregor Samsa. Alienation- Gregor felt very alienated by his family especially his father. When he transforms himself to an insect he comes to find that his family wants nothing to do with him, other than to treat him like an insect. That is when Gregor isolates himself from his family and the world. Growing up Franz Kafka isolated himself from his father, he took on a load by finding and working a job that he felt the need that he had to rather then wanting. He discredited himself from his work during his lifetime.
